Well that was a cracking play-off game and a great way to get an exciting day of football under way.

Charlton forward Lyle Taylor told Sky Sports:

"We're happy enough with a 2-1 win as they're a really good team. We've got to go back home and finish the job off as best we can.

"They started better than us in the first few minutes but we grew up into the game and dominated the first half and they dominated the second half so it was an even one."

Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo told Sky Sports:

"The late goal made us disappointing. We wanted to go back with a clean sheet on Friday.

"[On Charlton's two goals] It was against the run of play because they were doing well. But two quick goals changed the game and put us on top at half-time."

It's all over and that late Matty Blair goal for Doncaster has set up a cracking second leg in this play-off semi-final at The Valley.

Credit to Doncaster who fought back but Charlton looked very good for 87 minutes.

Frantic stuff in the Charlton box as Doncaster's ninth corner of the game pinballs its way about before Mallik Wilks fires over the bar from close range.

Not long left, now.

Four minutes added on.

Four minutes for Doncaster to level the scores going into the second leg.

Four minutes for Charlton to make it that bit harder when these two teams meet again at The Valley on Friday.

Lyle Taylor almost wraps this tie up with what would have been an almighty back-stretching header at the far post.

However he can't quite make Joe Aribo's cross and Charlton's wait for a third goal goes on.

Doncaster make a final change as they try to claw down that two-goal deficit.

Alfie May comes on for Kieran Sadlier as the hosts make an attacking change late on in this match.

The tempo in this game has slowed down somewhat as the clock ticks down on this League One play-off semi-final first leg.

Doncaster could give themselves a huge boost going into the second leg if they can find a goal.

And they have just under 10 minutes of normal time in which to do so.

There's a reason why Charlton have had one of the best defences in League One this season and their display this afternoon shows why.

Doncaster just can't quite find a way through to threaten that visiting back line. Another corner sails in from the hosts and Charlton deal with it with ease.

More Charlton pressure as they try to put this play-off semi-final to bed already.

Josh Cullen heads at the far post and forces Marko Marosi into palming away for a Charlton corner which is ultimately dealt with by the hosts.

Lyle Taylor and Krystian Bielik link up once more, this time with Bielik playing a neat ball over the top of the Doncaster defence to Taylor.

However, his shot in mid air goes straight into the arms of host keeper Marko Marosi.

Lovely work from Ben Purrington sees the Charlton left-back control a long ball in the air with his left foot, turn and strike the ball goalbound with his right but Marko Marosi is on top of it.

At the other end, Ben Whiteman is found by Doncaster with space to shoot unopposed in the Charlton box but he cannons his shot over the crossbar.

Another change from Charlton and this time Josh Parker withdrawn in favour of Jason Pearce.

Parker has been walking gingerly for about five minutes and his change doesn't really come as much of a surprise.

A loose ball from a Doncaster attack fails to be dealt with by a resolute Charlton back line and it falls into the path of Tommy Rowe.

The former Peterborough and Wolves midfielder hits it first time and his low effort flies acres wide of the target.

Charlton make their first change of the match with Albie Morgan being replaced by Darren Pratley.

At the other end, Charlton force Doncaster into conceding a corner and Josh Parker heads into the hands of Marko Marosi at the far post.

Doncaster work the ball upfield and Mallik Wilks fires wide with a quick-footed counter attacking move.

The corner that follows is well defended by Charlton's Patrick Bauer and the visitors win a free-kick.

I'd imagine Lee Bowyer will be relieved to see his side get the ball away from their box for once in a dominant second half display from Doncaster.

There are sarcastic cheers as Mallik Wilks wins a free-kick at a tight angle for Doncaster just outside the Charlton box.

Danny Andrew thumps it with his right boot but it picks up a deflection and goes out for another corner.
