Forest Green boss Mark Cooper feels his side were wrongly denied a penalty in the second half, when Emmanuel Monthe appeared to bring down Christian Doidge in the area.

"It's a blatant penalty and a red card as well," Cooper tells Sky Sports.

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon says he didn't see it from where he was.

The two sides also met in the National League promotion final at Wembley in 2017, when the Gloucestershire club won 3-1 to come up to League Two a year before Tranmere.

Two years on, and a division higher up the pyramid, they're still tough to separate.

Just one point separated them in the table at the end of the regular season and now just one goal separates them after half of their semi-final.

John: Far from ideal, but still would fancy us overturning a 1 goal deficit at home.

Rodney: Tranmere need a second goal. Their fan base deserves third tier football. (This from a Northampton Town fan)

Can Tranmere get a second goal in the dying moments of this first leg, or will the 10 men hold on?

It's one-way traffic but it's hard to list too many really clear-cut second-half chances that the home side have had.

    Tranmere 1-0 Forest Green

Tranmere's Emmanuel Monthe has another long-range effort for the home side, but this time his rising shot fizzes just over the bar.

The away side have defended well for large parts of this game, since going down to 10 men after just 15 minutes.

  18. PENALTY APPEAL (Forest Green)published at 80 mins

For the second time in this half, Forest Green are appealing for a penalty, but there's not anywhere near as much in this one as the earlier shout involving Christian Doidge.

This time, Doidge feeds George Williams inside the area and the substitute goes down, but I don't think that's a foul. He's either lost his balance or he's looking for it. Nothing given.

  19. SUBSTITUTION (Tranmere)published at 77 mins

Harvey Gilmour comes on for the hosts, as goalscorer Ollie Banks gets a warm ovation from the home fans as he goes off.
