"We were up against the second best team in the world and we have to learn from our mistakes.

"We were up against a really tough opponent - technically disciplined and organised. We made a few errors - our players not picking up in the box and an error for the keeper.

"We couldn't score a goal but we tried to attack."

So this is how Group B finishes.

Germany, ranked second in the world, cruise into the last 16 and a game in Grenoble on 22 June against a team yet to be decided.

    Three wins, no goals conceded.

Spain and China drew 0-0 to join Germany in the knockout stages.

Spain finish runners-up - and now head to Reims for a knockout tie against the United States or Sweden on 24 June.

China also go through as one of the best third-placed finishers after collecting four points.

    South Africa are heading home.

Raimund: 5,000 disallowed goals per season with this new ridiculous rule.

The offside flags going up so late is pretty annoying to be honest

Rhoda Mulaudzi should score. She's onside but in behind the German defence as she controls a long ball forward. She spins and shoots wide under minimal pressure.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

South Africa keeper Andile Dlamini comes flying out of her box to stop a German attack.

The underdogs counter but Rhoda Mulaudzi fires over... and the offside flag pops up anyway.

  16. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 84 mins

Another Germany disallowed goal. Linda Dallmannis is offside when she has the ball on the left. She has three players to aim at in the centre and picks out teenager Giulia Gwinn, who fires home. But the flag goes up.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

South Africa are making a go of this late on. Rhoda Mulaudzi has a shot blocked and then Thembi Kgatlana shoots wide.

Now the ball almost drops for Busiswe Ndimeni in the box but not too kindly and it's a corner.

The sun is getting in players' faces at the moments in Montpellier. Half the pitch is in shade, half is in the light. Like one of those really annoying pitches on Fifa.

  20. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 77 mins

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Alexandra Popp has the ball in the net but the offside flag correctly goes up. Linda Dallmann flew in down the left and crossed for Popp to slot home.

The guidance is to leave the offside flag down initially which is what they did - but they were definitely offside.
