    Arsenal 3-1 Birmingham City

Thanks for joining us today online and on the BBC Red Button.

After a quiet first half, it turned into a bit of a thriller but, in the end, even Birmingham's much-vaunted defence could not contain Arsenal's ammunition.

The Gunners go into the international break with their 100 per cent record intact - and, right now, it's difficult to see who can stop them.

    Arsenal 3-1 Birmingham City

We all remember the famous Thierry Henry-led Arsenal team of 2003-04 that went a Premier League season unbeaten.

Arsenal Women are a third of the way to matching that feat 15 years later.

Seven league games, seven wins. Goals scored: 34. Goals conceded: 4. Goal difference: +30. It doesn't get much better than that.

    Arsenal 3-1 Birmingham City

The final whistle goes and Arsenal's 100 per cent start goes on - that's 24 points from 24.

Today has been arguably been their toughest test against a Birmingham side that pushed them all the way.

But these are the type of games that champions find a way to win - and Arsenal have done just that.

  4. goal

GOAL: Arsenal 3-1 Birmingham Citypublished at 90+3 mins

    Jordan Nobbs

It's harsh on Birmingham but Arsenal have sealed the points now.

Jordan Nobbs nets her second goal of the game, steering home a superbly-measured low finish into the bottom corner from Lisa Evans' full-back.

Two goals for Nobbs and two assists for Evans.

    Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City

Five minutes of stoppage time on the fourth official's board.

Arsenal are seeing this game out well but it's not over just yet.

  6. Postpublished at 86 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City

The roles are being reversed here. It's now Arsenal sitting back, content to counter, and daring Birmingham to try to break them down. Will Blues be able to fashion one big chance in these last five minutes? At the moment, the Gunners are comfortably holding them at arm's length.

  7. Bold Bergerpublished at 79 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City

Unbelievable from Birmingham keeper Ann-Katrin Berger! The cheek of it!

Receiving an ill-advised backpass virtually on her own goal-line, she dinks it over the outstretched leg of the onrushing Danielle van de Donk! Amazing skill, if a bit risky, but she was given little choice by the backpass.

She concedes a corner - but wins a foul from it as we enter the last 10 minutes.

    Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City

Well, that escalated quickly. After very little happening for close to an hour, we've had three goals, including a penalty, plus a goal-line clearance in the space of just over ten minutes.

And Arsenal do not look like settling for a one-goal lead so strap yourself in for what could be a barnstorming last 20 minutes or so here at Borehamwood.

    Danielle van de Donk (pen)

Arsenal regain the lead as Danielle van de Donk sends Ann-Katrin Berger the wrong way from the spot.

    Arsenal 1-1 Birmingham City

The Gunners come so close to taking the lead for a second time as a Vivianne Miedema header is cleared off the line by Lucy Staniforth.

  12. goal

GOAL: Arsenal 1-1 Birmingham Citypublished at 60 mins

    Emma Follis

Well, that lead didn't last long.

After finally breaking Blues down, Arsenal fall asleep at the back. Emma Follis takes full advantage, racing into the right side of the area and clipping a fine finish over Gunners keeper Pauline Payraud-Magnin from a really tight angle.

  13. goal

GOAL: Arsenal 1-0 Birmingham Citypublished at 59 mins

    Jordan Nobbs

    Arsenal finally break through!

Birmingham - for once - are exposed at the back and Jordan Nobbs tucks neatly past Ann-Katrin Berger.

  14. CHANCE!published at 56 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

A big chance too in the context of this game - because Birmingham have barely allowed Arsenal a sniff.

Beth Mead does superbly to battle in from the left and her pull-back tees up fellow England midfielder Jordan Nobbs but she steers tamely straight at Blues keeper Ann-Katrin Berger from around ten yards.

  15. White-out for Bluespublished at 53 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

With 13 points from 18, Birmingham will be pretty pleased with their start to the season. But they might wonder how much better it might have been had striker Ellen White not been out since September with a back problem.

Blues have missed the goals that last season's WSL top scorer provides.

Back to the game here and an arm injury to Arsenal's Beth Mead leads to a lengthy stoppage but she's okay to continue.

  16. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

A rare chance for the Gunners as Lisa Evans' cross picks out Vivianne Miedema but she heads over from around eight yards. The Dutch striker has 14 goals in eight games this season but has had little opportunity to add to that tally today.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

Birmingham boss Marc Skinner will be much the happier man with that first half.

Arsenal get the second period underway. Can they break down their stubborn visitors?

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

If you grew up around the turn of the century, Arsenal Ladies were pretty much the equivalent of the Manchester United men's team - they won everything.

The emergence of new blood - particularly Chelsea and Manchester City - has put an end to their dominance, with their last WSL title coming in 2012, although they have lifted several cups in that time.

Their stunning start to this season has raised Gunners' hopes of once again contending at the top table - but Blues have shown them today that not everyone is going to let them have their own way.

  19. Scott: Blues are under the radarpublished at 13:28 GMT 4 November 2018

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

    Alex Scott
Ex-Arsenal Ladies & England international on BBC Sport

"Birmingham need a lot of credit. People have been talking about how well Arsenal have done and about Chelsea's poor start so Birmingham have gone under the radar. They are very well organised, which we have seen in the first half, and they have kept Arsenal at bay."

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 GMT 4 November 2018

    Arsenal 0-0 Birmingham City

Well, that's the first 45-minute period of football in which Arsenal have failed to score this season.

And, apart, from one Jordan Nobbs shot, that forced a fine save from Ann-Katrin Berger, the Gunners have been kept very quiet by Blues' resolute rearguard.
