    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Gaps are starting to appear at the back as Espanyol go in search of a late equaliser. Real should be out of sight but they have struggled to extend their lead.

Espanyol have hit the bar and created chances. Will they find the net before the full-time whistle?

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Real have made their third and final change. Isco is off and Marcos Llorente has been sent on with instructions to finish Espanyol off.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 77 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Silly foul by Casemiro on Borja Iglesias and it's a free-kick to Espanyol within shooting range - and a yellow card to the Real player.

Esteban Granero - yep, the same one who played for QPR - steps up and it's deflected wide for a corner.

Another reminder Real do not have this game won - yet.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 73 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

    Super move by Real.

Isco's wonderful cross finds Sergio Ramos but Diego Lopez throws himself across his line to tip over the header.

  9. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Espanyol will still feel they can save this game. They're certainly no shy at having a pop. Seven shots so far for the visitors but the clock is ticking and they're going to have to start taking risks.

  10. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Diego Lopez makes a mess coming for a set-piece and Espanyol just about escape. Lopez is very lucky to get away with that one.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 65 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

    What is Sergio Ramos thinking?

The Real defender is faffing around on the edge of the area and Borja Iglesias produces a delicate chip which cannons off the bar.

Espanyol inches away from an unlikely equaliser.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 62 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

    Another change for the hosts.

This time Lucas Vazquez comes on for Dani Ceballos.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 58 mins

    Here comes Real's first change.

Karim Benzema makes way for Mariano Diaz. No goals for La Liga's joint leading scorer tonight.

  14. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

It's getting a bit scrappy as the visitors from Barcelona batten down the hatches. Isco looks ever so dangerous running with the ball at his feet but Real's final delivery is poor.

  15. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Espanyol are finding it much harder to get out of their own half. Real are hungrier and more attack-minded than they were in the opening half.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 49 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

    Reflex save!

Super stuff from Diego Lopez on his return to his old club as he somehow keeps out Luka Modric's fierce strike.

Then Isco floats another attempt just wide from outside the box.

Much better from Real who have moved up a gear or two.

  17. Postpublished at 47 mins

No changes at the start of the second half as Gareth Bale takes his seat in the dugout. Will we see him in action soon?

We're back under way at the Bernabeu.
