Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho speaking to BT Sport: "We had probably a couple of the biggest chances to win it but I have accepted the result as a fair result. I said in pre-season last season was phenomenal to finish second. And I don't say more than that.

"The players tried. They raised the level of their efforts. They raised the level of their intensity in spite of the fact we don't have many with that intensity. We don't have the technical quality to build from the back.

"We tried to do something we did well which was to stop a fast team on the counter attack. We knew we wouldn't create 20 chances. Our attacking players aren't in their best moments of confidence and individual level. We thought with three or four chances we would score and win the game.

"It is a not a bad result. Not a good result, but not bad. We have two matches against Juventus to make points. It is a very difficult group, yes.

"We have Newcastle before the league stops then we have Chelsea and Juventus in three days. It will be good for the team if we can beat Newcastle."

I was disappointed by Man Utd tonight. I wanted more, the fans wanted more; they left after 70 minutes and I don’t blame them. I wanted to see more endeavour, work rate and organisation. I saw it for 15-20 minutes but Valencia stood firm. At the moment I don’t see enough Man Utd players really digging deep and taking the game by the scruff of the neck and making something happen. I haven’t seen that for a while now and it’s really frustrating.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on BT Sport: "We grew in the second half, you can tell we're disappointed we didn't get the goal we deserved in the second half.

"You're just after anything, We couldn't get the goal and we're disappointed.

"We have to stand tall. We're going through a tough patch and we're the only ones who can turn it around.

"The dressing room is united. We're sticking together to make sure we turn it around.

"We're talented players and it is that confidence, mentally it is tough, we know how important the home games are but we turn our head's to Saturday now."

Jose Mourinho is a great manager and I think he could still be the man for Man Utd. But there has to be something dramatically said to make the players, management and staff be in harmony again because at the moment the only people getting the raw end of the deal are the fans.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been cut to odds-on (4-5) to be the first Premier League manager sacked, and Zinedine Zidane (8-11) is also odds-on to take over, according to Oddschecker.

Mourinho is miles clear in the market - with Cardiff boss Neil Warnock second at 8-1.

Antonio Conte is second favourite to replace Mourinho at 10-1.

Pasha: Embarrassing to be a Man Utd fan at the moment. Slow, unimaginative, predictable football. No one's playing for the team. Something needs to change ASAP!!!

Francis: Jose is a problem and the players are a problem. But seriously, fans are a problem too. Just because you're Utd doesn't give you the right to win every game. You're in transition, get over it.
