Germany are still alive in this World Cup after one of the tensest, most thrilling games so far in Russia.

His first half goal definitely was something special.

Germany goalscorer Marco Reus: "Pure elation. We've seen it a couple of times at this World Cup that goals are scored. In the last 10 minutes we were really eager to win the match. For Toni Kroos to score was quite incredible - to win it with the last kick of the match was amazing - I pay my respects to him."

It seems like quite a night in Berlin.

As Joachim Low says Toni Kroos played a big part in both of the game's key goals.

He gave away the ball for Sweden's opener...

And in the 95th minute curled in a stunner to win the game...

Germany head coach Joachim Low: "I was very pleased for Toni Kroos because he was involved in that mistake that led to their goal. But he did very well with the free-kick in the dying moments. I was very pleased he was able to turn his game around and score that vital goal."

Germany boss Joachim Low: "This was a thriller, full of emotion, right up until the final whistle. Brandt hit the goal post just three minutes before the end too. We took out a defensive player and brought on an attacking player because we knew had to bring on everything we had to turn it round.

"We had a couple of great chances - Mario Gomez's header being one of them. The last couple of minutes were full of drama but those matches exist in football. We've had these situations in other tournaments as well. For the viewers that's part of the attractiveness of football."

Germany head coach Joachim Low: "Something I did appreciate today was that we didn't lose our nerve, we didn't panic after going a goal down. We kept a level head and said we needed to make quick passes and tire the Swedes out to open up spaces.

"We didn't score a couple of good chances but we never lost hope we could win the match and I think the goal scored in stoppage time had a bit of luck involved but it did show the belief we had in ourselves."

Germany manager Joachim Low has now taken his seat in the press conference.

I'm sure his hair wasn't that grey at the start of the game...

Sweden manager Janne Andersson: "Ola Toivonen is a player that is very technically gifted and he scores a wonderful goal. He works so hard with Marcus Berg up top and it's another good Sweden cap for him. He scored a amazing goal so it's unfortunate that it wasn't enough to get us a point in the end.

"Emotionally right now we are just disappointed we didn't get a point. But now we need to tidy up and we need to do well on Wednesday. We still have every chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds.

As pointed out by our tweeter (see below), the team that finishes second in Group F (currently Germany) will play the winner of Group E in the last 16 (currently Brazil).

Helles Mammut: Germany still didn't look anything close to their best, a better side than Sweden would have sent them packing... But we may find out about that in the round of last 16 vs Brazil...

Paulc0711: If winning with minutes to go then keep the ball. Don't go taking a weak shot straight to opposition goalie so they can go up other end, get a free kick and win it like Sweden did. Caused their own downfall. Deserved it for being negative too even against 10 men.

It didn't matter in the end but Germany were reduced to 10 men late on after Jerome Boateng's red card.

The right decision?

Sweden manager Janne Andersson: "They didn't create that many good opportunities, our keeper did make a few good saves, but I feel unlucky we didn't get at least one point.

"But I'm not blaming anyone or any tactical decisions. This is probably the heaviest conclusion to a match I've had in my career - but the whole group is still alive so we'll have to lick our wounds and come back for the next match.

"We had the odd opportunity but we kept the match under control up until the free-kick. It was an extraordinary individual goal. We had to work very hard throughout and once you get to the 85th minute you are very tired."

Sweden manager Janne Andersson on the Berg penalty shout: "It looked like a clear penalty - so if we have the system - it's odd he doesn't need to go and have a look. I haven't seen it with my own eyes but I trust my colleagues who say it was a clear penalty."

There were some unsavory scenes on the touchline with the Sweden bench seemingly unhappy with their German counterparts.

This is what the Sweden manager Janne Andersson has had to say on the situation in the post-match press conference:

"They got into our faces making gestures and that really got me angry we were all annoyed. we fought it out for 90 minutes and at the end you should shake hands and leave - so we were very angry with their reaction."
