More from Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic: "Not just on the pitch but outside the pitch we need to steer politics away from football - we should focus on football as the beautiful game and something that brings people together. Thank you.

    Serbia 1-2 Switzerland

Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic: "We wanted to grapple, to fight Serbia and initially we had problems with that. we let them cross into the box and send high balls into the box - and we knew they are storng in the air. but ultimately we managed to push them away from the box and they had to cross from distance.

"We've developed a winning mentality - even when we are down we try to keep a level head and win. Not just this game always, against Brazil we tried to win for sure, this is a very important aspect of our team.

Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic on Xherdan Shaqiri: "I believe he played an excellent second half. He has an eagerness to play football, he wants to put in the work and do the heavy lifting, and that points towards the next match too. He really finished the match with a flourish."

Switzerland goalscorer Xherdan Shaqiri on his winner: "I think it was a great pass from Mario Gavranovic - I knew I had a good scoring opportunity so I just kept running and used my instinct to put it away."

On coming from behind to win: "I think we've demonstrated today that we're able to rally. These players play for top clubs all over Europe and we were able to turn it around - it's not something we would have been able to do a couple of years ago."

Serbia coach Mladen Krstajic: "As far as the support goes, I would like to thank the Russians for their hospitality and the Serbia fans who have come to support us. It was a true pleasure playing in front of such a crowd.

"From day one when we saw the group, many felt Brazil were the favourites for the group and the championship. But we need to beat Brazil in the final match and nothing is impossible, we respect it will be difficult, but they have weak spots that we will try to exploit."

    Serbia 1-2 Switzerland

Serbia coach Mladen Krstajic: "I don't think they wanted it more - of course we were disturbed by their equaliser. But at 1-1 we tried to go on the attack - we changed a defensive midfielder for an attacking one - but unfortunately we conceded on the break int the 90th minute.

"I believe the lads have given their all - I can't say they didn't have the desire to bring about our desired result."

    Serbia 1-2 Switzerland

Serbia coach Mladen Krstajic: "We can be satisfied with the first half, we went 1-0 up at the right time tactically. Technically we were sound. We conceded a naive goal. We were on the front foot and then conceded on the counter.

"As far as the refereeing is concerned its not up to be to comment."
