Arrahman: Three important points. Chelsea weren't clinical but the performance was too notch. Up next 2 knock out games , Barca & Leicester.

Trevor: Proud of the boys, even if Crystal Palace go down we will keep the spirit, great Palace fans that's what count

  3. No Wilf regrets...published at 19:58 GMT 10 March 2018

    Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson speaks to the media in a news conference and says he has no regrets in not starting Wilfried Zaha:

"If I'd have started with Zaha and he had broken down in the 15th minute having only done one and a half training sessions, I'd be facing a very different questions," he says.

"I wanted to keep him on the bench longer but I was disappointed with our first half display.

"The temptation to bring someone of his quality on was too strong for me to resist."

  4. 'We deserved the win'published at 19:56 GMT 10 March 2018

    Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte speaking to BT Sport:

On his sides's performance: "I think that we created a lot of chances to score a lot of goals today. We conceded 2-1 at the end and there's a bit of pressure but did well to keep the ball high up the pitch way from our box.

"I think we deserved to win, we played a good game, especially in the first half against a good Crystal Palace. They are a good team fighting a lot to avoid relegation."

On scuppered chances: "We tried to finish the game, but I think that their goalkeeper made good saves and we hit the post. For sure when you have so many chances it is important to be clinical, but we must be pleased with the performance of the team and prepare for Barcelona."

On Olivier Giroud: "I think Olivier was unlucky. Two clear chances to score, he hit the post and another was a deflection by the defender, but his commitment was good for the team and we have to continue in this way."

On Barcelona preparations: "We have to prepare for that game in the right ways, they are a strong team, the game will be totally different compared to today but we have three days to decide with the players the right plan."

Liverpool are the big losers of Saturday at the top. Chelsea move within four points of them, while Tottenham know a win at Bournemouth tomorrow is that bit more critical now.

  6. How the bottom looks...published at 19:52 GMT 10 March 2018

Premier League bottom sixImage source, .

West Ham and Southampton breathe a sight of relief and stay out of the bottom three despite both losing 3-0 today. There are still only seven points between 18th and 11th.

I'd say 37 keeps anyone up. So well done Everton on hitting that mark today. Palace need 10 points from somewhere.

  7. 'We asked questions of Chelsea'published at 19:49 GMT 10 March 2018

    Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to BT Sport:

On his team's performance: "I was very disappointed in the first half. Not the football I know we can play. We were not aggressive enough, we gave them too much space and they scored two goals.

"The second half was better, much more like performances I’ve been seeing and we can count ourselves a little unlucky. We had a goal chalked off from Sorloth, on another day maybe that isn’t.

"We were taking the game to Chelsea late on and asking questions of them to the point that they had to waste a bit of time at the end."

On his opponents: "The quality of their passing was fantastic, particularly from Fabregas. It’s that quality they’re capable of showing that gave them a 2-0 lead. If we try to attack and open ourselves up we’re in danger on the counter from players like Hazard and Willian who are very quick. I’m more satisfied with the second half performance and showed quality."

On Wilfried Zaha's return: "Great to have him back. We need to be careful. He's a wonderful footballer who makes us better, but we can’t think we'll be fine because he’s back, he’s one player out of 11. He’s a footballer, not a magician."

  8. 'We should have killed the game'published at 19:45 GMT 10 March 2018

    Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea forward Willian speaking to BT Sport:

On the performance: "In games like that you have to kill the game, 2-0 is dangerous, we should've scored more but didn't."

On facing Barcelona: "We have to prepare well for the game. Go there and show character and try to do something special. I think we can do that. We have to carry on, and reach the top four and do something special in the Champions League also."

  9. 'Three points all that mattered'published at 19:41 GMT 10 March 2018

    Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill speaking to BT Sport

On the result: We had to show a lot of determination, courage and ambition today. The three points were all that mattered, no matter how we got them. They threw everything at us at the end, which made it difficult late on.

On finishing in the top four: Top four is the ambition. We've put ourselves in a difficult situation and we now have to work hard. The results haven't gone our way since the Bournemouth game and we're in a tough spot. We need to show the same character and ambition we did today to finish in the top four.

I love watching Hazard play, the way he shifts the ball around. But I have to say, I like watching Willian more. The way he plays it one way and goes the other. He's like an artist.

You got the feeling Eden Hazard played in third gear today, perhaps with one eye on Barcelona in midweek.

Even still, he played six key passes according to Opta. He also completed 90% of his 52 passes and 50 of those were in the opposition half. That goes to show how he does his work where he can hurt teams and he's efficient with the ball when doing it.

He had countless chances to shoot but elected to play those around him in, meaning he had just two shots, one of which was on target.

Only Huddersfield had more today with 30, though that was against 10 men for over 80 minutes.

Javel: That's several games now where Palace have deserved more than 0 pts.

Nick: It was nice of the referee to allow the 2nd Crystal Palace goal to stand, considering he disallowed the first goal for literally nothing at all. It should be 2-2 right now. Once again the referee has had a huge impact on the outcome of the game.
