West Brom stay in the relegation zone, but it's four points from two games for them, and they could well have won this one. Everton were not really on it today. James McCarthy's horrific leg injury, though, overshadowed everything. Thanks for your company today - I'll see you soon.

So nearly a late winner for West Brom. Salomon Rondon gathers the ball 25 yards out and hits a dipping shot that pings off the bar with Jordan Pickford beaten.

Seven minutes of stoppage time - the vast majority of which has been added for the James McCarthy injury.

Gylfi Sigurdsson floats the ball over, Mason Holgate meets it and heads over. The referee initially appears to give a corner, but then points for the goal kick after consulting with assistant Gary Beswick.

West Brom defender Craig Dawson goes into referee Stuart Attwell's book for a clear handball to stop Oumar Niasse charging clear down the right. Everton free-kick...

It's starting to feel like a basketball game now. Yannick Bolasie races at West Brom's defence for Everton, hitting a low shot that Ben Foster holds. Then Salomon Rondon has two chances in quick succession for Albion; he pounces on a Jonjoe Kenny error to blast a shot that Jordan Pickford pushes out, then flashing a header just wide seconds later.

As if to prove the point that it's anyone's game, Matt Phillips charges away on the counter attack for West Brom at the other end, and his shot onthe run is pushed out at th enear post by Jordan Pickford.
A treble change for West Brom; Jake Livermore, James McClean and Gareth McAuley are on for Chris Brunt, Jay Rodriguez and Jonny Evans.

Chance for Everton's Theo Walcott now, who meets Wayne Rooney's flicked header with a sweet volley, which Ben Foster beats away fairly comfortably to deny the debut goal. Anyone's game, this.
Everton 1-1 West Brom
Good run by Grzegorz Krychowiak for West Brom ends with a shot that is beaten away by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford. The McCarthy injury has obviously overshadowed this second half, but both teams are picking up the pace of the game again.
Oumar Niasse
Image source, ReutersOumar Niasse has just come on as a substitute for Cenk Tosun, and makes an immediate impact, with Theo Walcott also involved on his debut. Wayne Rooney delivers a deep cross, Walcott heads back and the Everton substitute volleys high into the net. Niasse had been on the pitch for just 57 seconds.

I should make clear, by the way, that there's no blame at all to attach to Salomon Rondon for the challenge that has left McCarthy with a broken leg. The two players were both making an honest chase for the ball - it was just an awful accident.

Seamus Coleman, McCarthy's Everton team-mate, is at Goodison watching today, and knows only too well the agony of suffering such a serious injury. He is only just getting back to full fitness after breaking his leg while playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales in a World Cup qualifier last March.
Everton 0-1 West Brom
The early word from the tunnel is that James McCarthy has suffered a double leg break, tibia and fibula. Dreadful news.
Everton 0-1 West Brom
McCarthy leaves on a stretcher, having been treated with oxygen. Morgan Schneiderlin has been booked for a late challenge on Gareth Barry in the build-up to that incident. Wayne Rooney is on as a substitute. Understandably, the momentum has gone out of the match completely. Rondon is continuing for now, but looks shaken up by what he's seen. To be honest, I've absolutely no desire to see the McCarthy injury in slow motion, so I think the TV director made the right decision there.
Everton 0-1 West Brom
It's a sign of how bad the injury is for McCarthy that the TV match director has frozen the replay before the moment that Rondon makes contact. It looks like a leg break for McCarthy, and that is awful for the Everton midfielder.
Everton 0-1 West Brom
But Everton are then almost caught out at the other end - Salomon Rondon is sent clear on goal, and James McCarthy gets back to make a great challenge. There's immediate concern from Rondon, and McCarthy looks in a very bad way. Rondon is in tears here.
Everton 0-1 West Brom
Just a flicker of life from Everton now. Cenk Tosun delivers a lovely flick for Theo Walcott to run on to down the right. It needs a good cross, but the England man's delivering goes straight to Ben Foster at the near post.
Everton 0-1 West Brom
Wayne Rooney is warming up for Everton now. Sam Allardyce knows he has to change something. Perhaps the sight of the former England captain preparing to come on has unsettled West Brom a little. Gylfi Sigurdsson has a shot blocked by Jonny Evans, then Ahmed Hegazi skies a panicky clearance towards his own goal. Keeper Ben Foster jumps with Cenk Tosun to punch clear unconvincingly, and is a little fortunate to get a free-kick in his favour.
