Manchester City will be 13 points clear of Manchester United on Christmas Day – the biggest points gap between first and second place on 25 December in English top-flight history.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, speaking to Sky Sports: "It feels like a defeat. We did the most difficult thing to score twice after they scored. We win together, we draw or lose together and today feels like a defeat. We defend as a team and I will not speak about these things.

"We should have killed the game somehow. We did OK but in the last moment we go back to Manchester very disappointed."

Man United will kick themselves. They should've put the game to bed on so many occasions but I don't get the tactics when Leicester went down to 10-men. They sat back when they should go and kill the game.

They're well organised but they don't seem to create enough - the flair has gone and that's going to cost them. They're a long, long way off Man City.

Give Leicester credit, they plugged away, they kept at it, and they got their rewards.

Leicester City

More from Leicester manager Claude Puel: "The first yellow card for Daniel Amartey is a little rough but after that he needed to manage it better. He showed just a little naivety but came into the game with a lot of pressure. It was a strong game with intensity and it's not easy for him but now the main thing is we have a point. Perhaps we could have won it in some moments."

On Harry Maguire's late equaliser:"I think he could have scored in the first half too. We had good opportunities and it was a good game against a great team with quality. I think this gives us a good feeling for the future. The fans give us a lot of support so I hope it's a lovely Christmas for the Blue Army."

Leicester City

Leicester boss Claude Puel: "It was a tough moment in the game. Just before we conceded we had two fantastic chances to score.

"It was difficult but with our positive attitude we stayed in the game and believed in ourselves. It's a good result for all of us because the belief keeps going. It's fantastic for the future. Now we know if that situation happen again we can score with 10 men against 11 so that's a good feeling for the future."

On the first goal: "I liked the recovery and position of the ball first of all and then we started the move well with a good ball on the floor and built this good move. Jamie Vardy can make the difference all the time and it's good for him. 50 Premier League goals so congratulations for him - a good moment to score tonight. He scores against some great teams."

Johnny Magrinho: The fact Mourinho subbed Lingard off for Herrera to protect a one-goal lead against 10 men makes this result even better - football has won today.

Graham: United will be kicking themselves you say? No point, they'll still miss.

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho tells BBC Sport: "What was extraordinary was what should have happened from the moment we scored the second goal - we had an accumulation of easy chances and did not score, we had moments of easy possession to control the game which were lost with childish decisions.

"And then the ball arrived to punish the team that should win easily but which accumulated mistakes.

"Half an hour after our second it is a game to finish four, five 6-1. But we did not just miss big chance - then in the last minute players were without the capacity to analyse the game, to see Chris Smalling was in trouble, off the pitch."

Rob, Newbury: Please go, Mourinho, before you completely rip the heart out of the club. You should never have been allowed near Old Trafford.

Raheel, Bristol: Man United should have put this game to bed a long time ago. Rashford and Lingard both trying to be too clever. Lukaku rightly angry at the lack of supply from Pogba and co. Disappointing to watch.

Anon: I want to believe in Mourinho, but I feel this team should be destroying teams like Leicester. If January signings don't make any improvements, the owners will be asking questions and rightly so.

So, Man City v Bournemouth first up on the MOTD running order, followed by Leicester v Man Utd....

Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports: "We didn't win because missed incredible chances. I would say joke chances.

"We made a big defensive accumulation of mistakes in an easy match to win. I talked to the players at half time when it was 1-1 that it was an easy match to win.

"The reality is that it is 2-2. Sometimes you make mistakes and are not punished by that."

How do you feel after a difficult week? "I feel great. One thing to feel angry as manager and another thing to feel great as a man.

"We were punished by our mistakes. It was an easy match to win, we did everything to win but when you lose big chances. Childish loss of possession, so easy. Childish in their box and childish in our box. We were punished in two points."

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has called his players "childish" after that results.

Leicester City

Leicester defender Harry Maguire tells Sky Sports: "Last minute goal to equalise, that is massive for us. They had chances to kill the game but Kasper Schmeichel pulled out a few saves for us.

"We had to stick with it, it was crucial to stick with it at 2-1 and thankfully I put the chance away.

"I had a chance in the first half too but I could not bring it down, when I scored there was no way I was trying to control it.

"It feels like a victory but it is only a point against a good side. We need to gain momentum for the next game.

"The manager has come in and results have picked up. We bounced back from the Crystal Palace result but we need to improve in areas to push further up the table.

I don't get Man United, they've had so many chances to really put this game beyond Leicester but they've messed about and missed chances.

They're a strong side, they're well organised like all Mourinho teams, but you wouldn't say there was much difference between Man United and Leicester for long periods tonight.
