More from West Ham manager David Moyes: "Taking chances builds confidence, but we didn't take the chances today. Cheikhou Kouyate's just after half-time was the best one.
"I think there were questions over both goals, but I am not blaming the referee, the best team won today.
"Hopefully getting a few players back from injury will help the squad.
"Marko Arnautovic looks like he may have broken his thumb. We will find out on Monday morning."

West Ham manager David Moyes tells Sky Sports: "Most people would have expected something like that performance. I was disappointed we didn't do better, but we missed some really big chances. The better team won the game, but there was a chance to change the outcome of the game. We have to improve.
"I was only ever going to find out what the players were like by working with them and seeing them play today. When the opportunities didn't go for us, the confidence went away.
"We have to try to find a way of winning. The important thing is to be in the game, and when we lost the second goal, it became difficult."

Watford manager Marco Silva talking to Sky Sports: "The way we have worked in the last week is the way we have worked since I arrived at the club. Today we performed really well again. We deserved the three points and it is an important three points for us.
"For us, the last three defeats did not reflect what we did on the pitch. We performed really well and did not deserve those defeats.
"My players work with me. They know my commitment. My future is tomorrow, and starting to prepare for the next game. That is my future.
"Some things we cannot control. I know what is in my hands, and that is planning for the session tomorrow."

He looks an absolute steal at £11m.

Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes speaking to Sky Sports: "The win is what we needed with the way we are playing. We don't have to change nothing we just have to avoid the mistakes we made in the last few games."
On the Marco Silva situation with Everton, he added "Of course our focus is to keep working. Rumours is rumours. We just have to keep working.
Man of the match Will Hughes said: "We have been flying this season. As Gomes said we just need to stop making mistakes. He kept us in the game with some great saves so we're thankful for that. We could have killed the game earlier but I am just happy we got the three points."

Bobby Seagull: I guess I might be accused of being a fair-weather West Ham fan if I remain silent whenever we lose, and only pipe up for good results. So I won't be silent tonight. Pretty disappointing that we haven't had the "new manager" boost to victory, as so often happens.
Gee: The effort from this West Ham team over the 3 or 4 times I've watched them this year makes me think of Villa last year. No one is busting a gut forward or back. No pride, no passion.

Watford had far too much for West Ham today. Other than a five or ten minute spell in the game, West Ham were not at the races.

Before the game I was asked whether or not it affects players when their manager is linked with another club. My answer was, 'of course it does'.
But we have not seen that from Watford today.
I have been very impressed with the way they have approached the game.
