No we're not talking about Claudio Ranieri...

Following 6-0, 6-0, 7-0, 8-0 defeats in the nationwide five-a-side tournament, Boys from Nancy have sacked their manager.

• Troy Deeney has now scored in four of his last five Premier League appearances for Watford.
• The Watford striker has scored nine of his 21 Premier League goals from penalties (43%) - only Harry Kane has scored as many penalties in the competition since the start of last season.
• Watford have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 Premier League matches.
• Jose Holebas picked up his 12th yellow card of the season in this match – more than any other Premier League player in 2016-17.
• Michail Antonio picked up his first red card in his professional career.
• West Ham United have now lost just one of their last seven Premier League away games (W3 D3 L1).
• Andre Ayew’s goal was the 100th scored in the Premier League for West Ham under Slaven Bilic.

Watford

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri speaking to BBC Sport: "I saw Zarate in a lot of pain. Unfortunately it is not a good sign. He was also making a lot of difference on the pitch. Hopefully it is not too bad.

"He was making a difference on the pitch. If we speak about the game, I didn't like how we went down in the second half.

"We also committed some silly mistakes that we can avoid. It's not acceptable to allow them a goal on the counter-attack when you are winning 1-0. The injury didn't allow me to make all the substitutions I wanted.

"This is our first season and this season is to prepare and to grow. Year by year the objective is to make the next step forward."

West Ham United

West Ham goal scorer Andre Ayew speaking to BT Sport: "The first half, they got control. They had such a lot of pressure, we could rarely play our game.

"Second half, we came out and managed to do what we know how to do. It was a tough game. The Premier League is very difficult, espcially at this stage."

On the goal: "Sometimes that's the game. It comes, sometimes you look for any and it doesn't come. That's football for me. It was my first game back from the Africa Cup of Nations.

"I wanted to continue working hard and hopefully I can get some more goals in."

Anyway, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has finally reacted to the dismissal in an Instagram post. He explains why it took him almost two full days to do so.

I must have written and deleted my words to this post a stupid amount of times! I owed Claudio to find the right and appropriate words! Claudio has and always will have my complete respect! What we achieved together and as a team was the impossible! He believed in me when many didn't and for that I owe him my eternal gratitude. There is speculation I was involved in his dismissal and this completely untrue, unfounded and is extremely hurtful! The only thing we are guilty of as a team is underachieving which we all acknowledge both in the dressing room and publicly and will do our best to rectify. I wish Claudio the very very best in whatever the future holds for him. Thank You Claudio for everything.

West Ham United

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic speaking to BBC Sport: "Considering we were in good form and how well we played today, especially in second half, it’s two points dropped.

"On the other hand, considering we are playing away against a good team and we conceded an early goal, there's always a danger you will concede a second then you can lose the game.

"With 10 men, I think I have to say it it’s two points lost – yeah we lost two points, that’s my point of view, but it’s a good point. It’s hard to come back away.

"If you ask me which team today showed more quality in every department, especially on the ball, that was, especially in the second half. I told the guys we have to give them some credit.

"If I was Watford manager, I was after a penalty. Mauro Zarate went down very easy. If that was given then I'm expecting the same for us. But it didn't have to be, of course, it was not blatant.

"The red card - OK, I just spoke to the referee. He had a good game. It was a difficult game. Although Michail Antonio's reaction is an instinctive one he din't stop them gaining anything. He acted by the book and the book says it is a red card."

Watford goal scorer Troy Deeney speaking to BT Sport: "Both teams know that all the teams behind us are pretty close and everyone wants to win.

"It was definitely a game of two halves. I thought we had the better of the first half and they dominated the second.

"The injury to Zarate doesn't look good. I wish him a speedy recovery. It was a nice touch from the West Ham fans to sing his name.

"Hopefully he can get an MRI as quickly as possible. I thought he was lively in the first half."

West Ham deserved to take something on their level of commitment this afternoon.

They didn't look like creating anything before half-time but were much better after the break.

It was a bit of a nervy finish with them down to 10 men so all in all an exciting game.

The handbrake was off for West Ham at times this afternoon, the same for Watford - they both know they're not going down so it's just about picking up as many points as possible.

Frustration from Michail Antonio?

The West Ham midfielder - probably the Hammers' best player on the pitch - falls to the ground in tussling with Isaac Success and claws the ball away from the feet of the Watford sub.

It's obviously handball. Watford players complain and no doubt remind ref Craig Pawson that Antonio had been shown a yellow earlier.

Pawson pulls out another yellow then the dreaded red.

Hammers down to 10.
