  3. 'Never a second yellow'published at 19:54 BST 15 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic speaking to BT Sport: “First I would like to praise the team. We showed everything, character, spirit, we deserved to win. The goal we scored was an amazing move from many players.

"For me it was a penalty on Cresswell and then the second yellow card is very harsh – never a second yellow card, never.

“Now that Aaron was back we made a little gamble because we didn’t expect him to be totally match fit, but he had a great game.

“It was straight after the Middlesbrough game that we started to prepare for Palace and also the best system for us that suits all our best players. We came to this system that I really like.

“We need more than one game, more than one win. It is not about the system but much more about the approach and composure we have, how we cover each other and how we close them down.

“We showed how good a team we are and how good a unit we are.”

  5. 'Scoring the penalty would have been a lifeline'published at 19:49 BST 15 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew on BBC Sport:

"I was disappointed with a lot of aspects of the game. We didn’t start well and they got a deserved lead. We had to make change at half-time because weren't playing with the fluidity as we have done. We were better in the second half.

"We should have at least got a draw. With the penalty I was thinking with the week Benteke has had it'll go in. That would have been a lifeline and would have turned the game on its head. We would gave gone in 1-1 at half-time. This happens in the course of the season. Adrian made a good save at the end. The Hammers for their faults... you couldn't fault them today defensively."

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is also out, talking to BT. "Never a sending off", he says of Aaron Cresswell's two yellow cards in 51 seconds. More to come - when Harry Redknapp's had his turn that is...

"I thought you were brilliant today Slaven," the former Hammers manager says. (He earlier described Cresswell's sending off as "diabolical, disgusting".

Can you guess the first word Alan Pardew uses in his post-match interview? Clue: it begins with 'd'.

"We know we've let this slip. We should at least have got a draw," he adds. Full quotes to come.

  9. 'This will lift us'published at 19:36 BST 15 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham defender Winston Reid speaking to BBC Sport: “We needed it as results haven’t been the best of late, we had a bit of luck on our side. I thought we earned it and showed out there today we are a team all fighting for each other – this result will lift us.

“It was nice that the formation paid off, and I thought we dealt with them as best we could and got forward well as well. We looked 100% as a team and were working hard for each other. We stay humble and keep working hard.

“I thought he (Cresswell) was a little bit harshly done by, but the referee has made a decision and we had to dig in, which we did, and got a fantastic result.”

  10. 'Massive three points'published at 19:33 BST 15 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham captain Mark Noble speaking to BT Sport: “Obviously going down to 10 men seemed like an hour to play but the boys at the back, the whole team, defended well. I’ve been the first to criticise the team and the way we have played, I involved myself in that, but tonight we showed how much it means to us to put a win on the board.

“After the amount of games we’ve played you don’t want to keep talking about injuries, especially wing backs like Cress, who are so important in this day and age. We are going to miss him next week now.

“Those three points were massive for everyone who works at the club.”

James Sanders: West Ham have been lacking team-spirit, fight and desire all season but today we saw it in abundance. Well deserved win.

And how will Christian Benteke be feeling now? He missed a penalty with an awful strike just before the break, hit the outside of the post with a header moments afterwards - and he should have scored later in the match after Adrian's mistake at a corner.

    A long night.

  14. 'Deserved win for West Ham'published at 19:25 BST 15 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain at Selhurst Park for BBC Radio 5 live

West Ham were the better side and had to dig in when Aaron Cresswell was sent off. They deserved the victory. Winston Reid had the game of his life. They passed it better than Palace who were guilty of not getting good balls into the box. If they can play like this in the rest of the campaign they'll have a good season.

  15. 'Winston Reid a colossus'published at 19:23 BST 15 October 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain at Selhurst Park for BBC Radio 5 live

It hasn't gone Palace's way but it has been of their own making with the way they are set up to play.

West Ham's defence mopped up everything pretty well.

It's all been very direct from Palace which has been too easy to deal with. That bit of quality missing today. Winston Reid was a colossus at the back for West Ham.

A deft, brilliant touch from Manuel Lanzini for the first-half goal, a remarkable reflex stop from goalkeeper Adrian to keep the points safe in stoppage time.

West Ham have their first win in six games. But there was real controversy over the Aaron Cresswell sending off.
