Villa have their first home league victory of the season!

Their players are receiving a standing ovation as they leave the pitch in the pouring rain.

It's been a long time coming and it took a bad mistake by Wayne Hennessey to give them the points, but Villa are worthy winners.

Villa are so close to a first home league win. This has been a hugely encouraging performance by Remi Garde's side and the boss deserves credit as his changes have proved crucial.

Marouane Chamakh is through on the Villa goal...but is flagged for offside. A huge cheer goes up.

Almost a second for Villa as Jordan Ayew avoids two challenges inside the Palace area before firing narrowly over. 

It's not been a classic and the game is ending on a scrappy note. Palace's frustrations are boiling over - Ward is booked for a late tackle on Ayew before Gana's in the book for bringing down Chamakh.

Villa are looking comfortable. They've got another 20 minutes or so before they can start celebrating but Palace have been poor and look void of ideas.

What a howler by Wayne Hennessey. 

Aston Villa are deservedly ahead but it's a gift from Wayne Hennessey as the Palace keeper somehow allows Joleon Lescott's header to squirm through his palms and over the line.

It looks like an own goal but it's been given as a Lescott goal for now. Villa fans don't care. Their team is ahead.

Kozak's effort has lifted Villa fans. They are singing their team's name as the hosts enjoy a decent spell. Can they get their first home win of the season?

Great determination by Libor Kozak almost brings a Villa goal. The recalled striker manages to get a shot away on the edge of the area despite being surrounded a sea of white shirts and Wayne Hennessey just about manages to push his defelcted effort behind.

This has goalless draw all over it. Scrappy start to the new half, passes going astray all over the pitch. It's crying out for one moment of quality.

Off goes midfielder Joe Ledley and on comes striker Connor Wickham. Palace are going for this.
