*Cliche alert* I'm afraid it is time to roll out one of football's favourite phrases. That really was a game of two halves. Paraguay looked down and out at the break as Argentina eased into a 2-0 lead.

They had mustered just one shot at the Argentina goal before half-time (which was off target) as their opponents hogged 76% of the ball.

But the outsiders fought back brilliantly to earn a well-deserved point.

Argentina coach Tata Martino looks shellshocked as he marches down the tunnel. Expect the former Barcelona boss to lead an inquest inside the changing room - and face some tough post-match questions from his nation's media.

Toot toot toot! The referee calls time on an unlikely humdinger of a football match - Paraguay are celebrating, Argentina are left despairing. Remarkable fightback by the Paraguayans, ranked 85th in the world, from 2-0 down against the World Cup finalists and Copa favourites.

  7. CLOSE!published at 00:26 BST 14 June 2015

Carlos Tevez! The Argentina striker sees the back-page headline as he homes in on Angel Di Maria's deft cross from the right. But he does not concentrate on the immediate job - sticking the ball in the Paraguayan net - as he scuffs wide with the goal gaping.

  8. INJURY TIMEpublished at 00:24 BST 14 June 2015

Don't back just yet on this one ending as a draw. Three minutes of stoppage time to find a winner...

Lucas Barrios, quite rightly, goes nuts as he celebrated Paraguay's unlikely comeback from 2-0 down. However, he earns a yellow card for his troubles.

  10. GOALpublished at 00:21 BST 14 June 2015

Un. Believe. Able. Paraguay look like they are going to nick a point against tournament favourites Argentina. Substitute Lucas Barrios, moments after replacing Roque Santa Cruz, latches on to Paulo Da Silva's knockdown header to blast in a low leveller from 15 yards.

  11. Postpublished at 00:21 BST 14 June 2015

Paraguay win a flurry of free-kicks in the Argentina half - if they are going to nick a point then they will have to do it quickly...

Another minute, another half-chance. Paraguay defender Miguel Samudio is still looking to make amends for gifting Argentina both of their goals, but his left-foot shot from outside the box is high, wide and horrible.

  13. Postpublished at 00:19 BST 14 June 2015

Free-kick for Paraguay on the right side of the area. Is this their moment? Nope. A poor delivery from Derlis Gonzalez is easily dealt with by La Albaceleste's defence.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 00:17 BST 14 June 2015

Argentina are rattled. That is perfectly illustrated by defender Nicolas Otamendi, who goes into the referee's notepad with a rash challenge. Argentina boss Tata Martino looks nervous as he prowls the touchline.

  15. TEN TO GOpublished at 00:16 BST 14 June 2015

Moments after Angel Di Maria's chance, his Manchester United team-mate Marcos Rojo ventures forward to hammer a shot over the Paraguay crossbar. Smart money would still go on an Argentina win, but this game is finely balanced as we enter the final 10 minutes...

  16. Postpublished at 00:14 BST 14 June 2015

Now it's Argentina's turn to attack. The fans inside the Estadio La Portada de La Serena are like a tennis crowd - watching the ball ping quickly from one end to the other. Angel Di Maria fancies his chances from a tight angle, but sees his effort blocked by Paraguay keeper Antony Silva.

  17. Postpublished at 00:12 BST 14 June 2015

Great chance for Paraguay! The underdogs almost nab an equaliser as Miguel Samudio - who was at fault for both of Argentina's goals - forces Sergio Romero into an acrobatic save.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 00:11 BST 14 June 2015

Argentina are looking punch-drunk defensively at the moment. But these two aren't bad options to bring on at the other end. Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain shake hands with Javier Pastore and Sergio Aguero respectively. You score once, and we'll score twice, seems to be the Argentina philosophy...

  19. Postpublished at 00:08 BST 14 June 2015

End to end stuff now. Argentina skipper Lionel Messi slides in to meet Angel Di Maria's ball down the Paraguay corridor of uncertainty - betwene keeper and defence - but the Barca man is a couple of inches too short to turn in.

  20. CLOSE!published at 00:07 BST 14 June 2015

Oh my word! Paraguay almost nick an equaliser. You would not have imagined this half an hour ago. Half-time substitute Derlis Gonzale pounces on Angel Di Maria's miskick to fire across a low ball from the right. Team-mate Nelson Haedo Valdez - who halved the deficit moments ago - flicks out a right boot but does get enough contact to turn the ball inside the far post.
