Thanks for following today's action with us.

Somerset couldn't quite finish the job at Taunton but Sussex certainly did against Leicestershire - winning inside two days.

Meanwhile, the Division One title race is looking tasty, with leader Middlesex's match against Notts looking finely poised and Yorkshire dominant against Durham.

I'll be back tomorrow for more action, but if you want to follow England's T20 international against Pakistan, you can here.

    Kent 15-4 & 230 v Northants 384

James Tredwell, brought in as a second nightwatchman for Kent has just been dismissed by the unstoppable Rory Kleinveldt and the champagne could well be on ice at Division Two leaders Essex...

  3. Close at Tauntonpublished at 18:08 BST 7 September 2016

    Warwickshire 123 & 131-8 v Somerset 95 & 211

Somerset can't get the final two wickets this evening and Warwickshire's trip to the Bakelite Museum has been postponed...

Rikki Clarke (42) and Chris Wright (38) are the men to take this to a third day.

What a morning session we have in prospect at Taunton.

  4. No hat-trick for Kleinveldtpublished at 18:07 BST 7 September 2016

    Kent 12-3 & 230 v Northants 384

Four slips in as Kent have two nightwatchmen in, but Rory Kleinveldt can't get a hat-trick - Hardus Viljoen the man to survive.

    Kent 7-3 & 230 v Northants 384

Meanwhile, his team-mates are doing a good job of backing Ben Duckett up.

Rory Kleinveldt has just taken two wickets in two balls...

Could we have the second hat-trick in two days?!

  8. Stumps at The Ovalpublished at 17:56 BST 7 September 2016

    Hampshire 213-3 v Surrey 329

Tom Alsop is still there for Hampshire at the close.

The relief on his face when he reached his maiden Championship century was clear for all to see, but he was a lucky man having been dropped a number of times and nearly run out in the nervous nineties.

What could day three bring there?

    Warwickshire 123 & 123-8 v Somerset 95 & 211

The stand between Rikki Clarke and Chris Wright has not only doubled the score but is also the best partnership in this entire match.

61 more runs needed to win, but if one of these is out, Josh Poysden will be coming in.

Poysden is very much a number 11.

    Warwickshire 122-8 & 123 v Somerset 95 & 211

    Could Warwickshire still win this?

Probably not, but Rikki Clarke has just smashed a six off Jack Leach to show they are not done yet. 72 to win...

    Northants 384 v Kent 230

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

"Ben Duckett's fine innings has put Northants into a strong position here but it becomes an even more remarkable knock in the context of the game. Alex Wakely's 73 the next-highest score on either side.

"The second new ball has taken 6 for 37 in 12.1 overs and kept Kent in touch in this game.

"The lead of 154 is very solid but if the home side can bat well second time around - they will also have Sam Billings back tomorrow - they could yet set Northants a tricky target on a pitch that looks rather dry and has shown signs of turn."

And Northants have struck with the first ball of Kent's second innings, Rory Kleinveldt getting the wicket of Daniel Bell-Drummond.

  13. Close at Cardiffpublished at 17:41 BST 7 September 2016

    Gloucestershire 345-8 v Glamorgan 220

Gloucestershire have batted through the day, with Hamish Marshall's fourth century of the summer the pick of the day's play.

    Notts 241 & 24-0 v Middlesex 247

After starting the day 9-3, Middlesex will be rather happy with how the day has panned out.

Nick Gubbins (75) was the mainstay of their innings, and Notts opener Steven Mullaney is sitting pretty on 20 going into day three.

  15. Northants all outpublished at 17:37 BST 7 September 2016

    Northants 384 v Kent 230

Northants, or Ben Duckett's Northants as they should be known today, are all out for 384, a first-innings lead of 153.

Division Two leaders Essex will owe Duckett and Northants a pint after this match if things continue to go against their closest promotion rivals.

  16. Extra 30 mins takenpublished at 17:35 BST 7 September 2016

    Warwickshire 123 & 94-8 v Somerset 95 & 211

Somerset have taken the extra half hour at Taunton in a bid to get the final two Warwickshire wickets.

    I mean, why wouldn't you?

Meanwhile, BBC Sport's Elizabeth Ammon has had this to say about the Taunton pitch.

    Hamsphire 196-3 v Surrey 329

He'll be very glad he wasn't left in the nervous nineties overnight.

    Leicestershire 135 & 119 v Sussex 313 - Sussex won by an innings and 59 runs

Some reaction from the earlier win for Sussex...

    Sussex captain Ben Brown:

“It takes a lot of character to come back from losing as comprehensively as we did against Kent last week, but we have to understand we’re a young side and there are going to be ups and downs.

“We had a long honest chat about moving forward, and this is a step in that direction.

“I felt there was a huge amount in the pitch, it wasn’t a great one to be perfectly honest, and Ollie Robinson and I looked to counter-attack this morning.

"As we went on it got a little bit easier, as it always does, and we took it to the opposition, and a lead of 178 was always going to be decisive: to get over 300 on a 160 pitch was a fantastic effort."

  19. Payne in the neck for Glamorganpublished at 17:26 BST 7 September 2016

    Glamorgan 220 v Gloucestershire 331-8

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

"Gloucestershire tail-ender David Payne helped steer his side past a century lead in Cardiff with a stubborn half-century.

"He added 60 for the eighth wicket with Craig Miles (33) before frustrating Glamorgan further in a painstaking partnership with Josh Shaw.

"Hamish Marshall's 101 has been the main contribution for the visitors while Michael Hogan bowled a mean 23 overs, taking 3-31."
