  3. Stumps at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 18:38 BST 5 July 2016

    Durham 421-9 dec v Hampshire 472-9 dec & 9-0

A century from Keaton Jennings and 51 from Ben Stokes helped Durham get close to parity on day three against Hampshire.

Durham then collapsed to 349-9 and looked set for a hefty deficit, until last-wicket pair Barry McCarthy and Graham Onions blasted their way to maximum batting points.

This one should be a draw, unless something freakish happens on the final day.

  4. Stumps at New Roadpublished at 18:35 BST 5 July 2016

    Worcestershire 349 v Leicestershire 407 & 172-2

Leicestershire still hold the upper hand against Worcestershire at the end of day three, although the hosts did well to recover from their collapse on the second day to post 349.

Joe Leach hit 90 and then took two quick wickets with the ball, but Paul Horton and Mark Cosgrove hit unbeaten fifties to give the Foxes a lead of 230 runs going into the final day.

  5. Stumps at Chelmsfordpublished at 18:31 BST 5 July 2016

    Essex 569 v Kent 207 & 252-7

An unbroken partnership of 124 between Sam Northeast (116 not out) and James Tredwell (62 not out) has taken Kent's match with Essex into a final day, when an innings defeat inside three days looked the probable outcome.

However, Essex will still be extremely confident of wrapping up victory on day four at Chelmsford - a result which would see them replace Kent at the top of Division Two.

    Somerset 128 & 258-8 v Pakistan 359-8 dec & 236-4 dec

The tour match between Somerset and Pakistan has ended in a draw, with the home side clinging on to avoid defeat in the closing stages of the third and final day.

A draw always looked the most likely result when Marcus Trescothick reached his 61st first-class century, but his dismissal sparked a flurry of wickets.

All in all, though, a good workout for the tourists ahead of next week's first Test against England.

  7. Stumps at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:20 BST 5 July 2016

    Notts 474 v Lancashire 276 & 128-0

Haseeb Hameed (58 not out) and Tom Smith (66 not out) have seen Lancashire safely through to the close without loss in their second innings.

The visitors still trail Nottinghamshire by 70 runs, but having seen the home side rack up 474 earlier in the day, it was a situation where you could envisage a top-order collapse.

That didn't materialise, however, and Lancashire are well place to save the game quite comfortably on Wednesday.

  8. Stumps at Scarboroughpublished at 18:17 BST 5 July 2016

    Yorkshire 406 v Middlesex 470-8

Day three definitely belonged to Middlesex, who made Yorkshire toil in the field at Scarborough.

Stevie Eskinazi's career-best 157, backed up by 99 from skipper James Franklin, has given the visitors a healthy lead going into the final day tomorrow.

Not even the loss of a few wickets late on could dampen their day, while Jack Brooks ended with creditable figures of 5-89 for the reigning champions.

  9. 50 runs

    50 for Cosgrovepublished at 18:13 BST 5 July 2016

    Worcestershire 349 v Leicestershire 407 & 159-2

Mark Cosgrove follows Leicestershire batting partner Paul Horton to 50 at New Road against Worcestershire.

The pair have put on 116 for the third wicket.

  10. 50 runs

    50 for McCarthypublished at 18:08 BST 5 July 2016

    Durham 421-9 dec v Hampshire 472-9 dec

Big Barry McCarthy has a maiden first-class half-century off just 47 balls, his innings containing five fours, two sixes and one broken seat (see 17:32 entry).

He's also cut Durham's deficit to just 51 runs, at which point they declare and give themselves six overs to have a go at Hampshire's openers this evening.

  11. wicket

    WICKET (Franklin c Williamson b Brooks 99)published at 18:02 BST 5 July 2016

    Yorkshire 406 v Middlesex 454-8

Oh, you have to feel for Middlesex captain James Franklin.

The Kiwi all-rounder is out one run short of a century, getting a leading edge to a Jack Brooks delivery which is pouched by Kane Williamson at cover.

Worth noting, too, that it's a fifth wicket of the innings for Yorkshire pace bowler Brooks.

  12. Maximum batting points for Durhampublished at 17:56 BST 5 July 2016

    Durham 402-9 v Hampshire 472-9 dec

    Quite extraordinary.

Durham have somehow got themselves to 400 in the 109th over, thanks to some late hitting from Barry McCarthy (41 not out) and Graham Onions (14 not out), who have put on 53 in 8.2 overs for the 10th wicket.

Before that, the hosts had lost six wickets for 54 runs.

  13. 100 runs

In great adversity, it's a defiant century from Kent captain Sam Northeast against Essex at Chelmsford.

There's still a day to go and Kent are still way behind, but he and James Tredwell (54 not out) have at least shown some fight late on day three.

  14. 50 runs

    50 for Smithpublished at 17:48 BST 5 July 2016

    Notts 474 v Lancashire 276 & 109-0

Tom Smith joins Haseeb Hameed in reaching 50. This is a job being done very, very well by Lancashire's opening pair against Nottinghamshire.

  15. wicket

    WICKET (Eskinazi c Williamson b Brooks 157)published at 17:40 BST 5 July 2016

    Yorkshire 406 v Middlesex 428-5

Stevie Eskinazi's career-best knock comes to an end at 157. What a day for the Middlesex man.

Jack Brooks dismisses the South Africa-born batsman, but not before Eskinazi has put Middlesex into the lead on day three at Scarborough.

  16. Pakistan pushing for victorypublished at 17:38 BST 5 July 2016

    Somerset 234-7 (target 468) v Pakistan

Pakistan fancy a last-gasp victory in their tour match with Somerset at Taunton.

The home side have lost wickets quickly in the final session and have a little more than 10 overs to survive with only three wickets in hand.

Yasir Shah is the man doing the damage, the leg-spinner taking 3-98, while Mohammad Amir had the dangerous James Hildreth caught behind for 48.

  17. 50 runs

    50 for Hameedpublished at 17:36 BST 5 July 2016

    Notts 474 v Lancashire 276 & 92-0

    Haseeb HameedImage source, Getty Images

Haseeb Hameed is quickly establishing himself as one of the brightest batting prospects in the Championship right now.

The Lancashire opener has passed 500 runs in Division One this season on his way to a half-century at Trent Bridge.

  18. Repair man requiredpublished at 17:32 BST 5 July 2016

    Durham 368-9 v Hampshire 472-9 dec

Durham must be grateful to their 10th-wicket pair of Graham Onions and Barry McCarthy, who have added 19 runs in two overs to get the home side to a fourth batting point against Hampshire.

  19. No joy for Nottspublished at 17:30 BST 5 July 2016

    Notts 474 v Lancashire 276 & 90-0

Still no sign of a breakthrough for Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Opening pair Haseeb Hameed and Tom Smith continue to erode Lancashire's deficit, which is now down to 108 runs.

  20. Champions toilpublished at 17:22 BST 5 July 2016

    Yorkshire 406 v Middlesex 411-4

It's been one of those days in the field for champions Yorkshire at Scarborough today.

They've taken only two wickets on day three and now the visitors have overtaken their first-innings total of 406 with six wickets still in hand.
