The Baltimore Ravens dropped out of the top seed in the AFC after losing 20-19 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the very last play of the game - when head coach John Harbaugh went for a two-point conversion to win the game rather than trying to kick the extra point to take it to overtime.

Lamar Jackson was just off with what would've been the game-winning throw, in what was a mixed night for the former MVP, but he threatened to get away with it after leading a fantastic late drive down the field.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may well be in his last season in the NFL, but he's still got the game as he threw two TD passes to Diontae Johnson as part of 17 fourth-quarter points that ultimately won them the game.

Baltimore drop to 8-4 with the Steelers at 6-5-1 and anything is still possible in their tough AFC North division.

The Seattle Seahawks kept their faltering season alive with a late defensive stand sealing a 30-23 victory over fierce rivals San Francisco, despite trailing by 10 early on.

Each team had three turnovers in a scrappy game that was highlighted by two late defensive stands, with the Niners first forcing a turnover on their own one-yard line to deny Seattle a game-winning score.

But then the Seahawks responded in kind as they kept Jimmy Garoppolo out from just a couple of yards out by stopping four plays to book a huge win. At 4-8 Seattle are down but still not yet out while the 6-6 49ers are well in the wildcard race.

After three straight defeats, the Los Angeles Rams responded with an expected 30-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Matthew Stafford enjoying a return to form with 295 yards and three TD throws - one of which went to Odell Beckham Jr.

The Washington Football Team won another thriller as new kicker Brian Johnson booted a late field goal to earn a 17-15 success at the Las Vegas Raiders. It leaves both teams on 6-6 and still in the wildcard reckoning.

  3. The NFL play-off picturepublished at 01:13 GMT 6 December 2021

Baltimore's defeat drops them from first down to third in the AFC play-off standings, meaning that even before they've played in week 13 the New England Patriots are now the top side in the AFC.

They've got a huge game against the Buffalo Bills on Monday so they may not stay there, but seeing them on top at this stage will strike fear into the hearts of the rest of the league.

Arizona improved to 10-2 as the best team in the NFC and Green Bay remain in second as they sit out on a bye this week, with the Buccaneers joining them on 9-3 but sitting in third.

A reminder that seven teams in each conference make the play-offs, with the top seed enjoying a bye in the first round of play-off action and having home advantage for as long as they're involved. They're both massive factors in their Super Bowl chances.

    AFC Standings

    1. Patriots (8-4)

    7. Bengals (7-5)

In the hunt: Broncos (6-5), Steelers (6-5-1), Colts (7-6), Raiders (6-6), Browns (6-6)

    NFC Standings

    1. Cardinals (10-2)
    2. Packers (9-3)
    3. Buccaneers (9-3)
    4. Cowboys (8-4)
    5. Rams (8-4)
    6. Washington (6-6)

The Detroit Lions finally got rid of their record as this season's last remaining winless team with a dramatic 29-27 win at home to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Lions led 20-6 at half-time and 23-15 early in the fourth quarter, only for the Vikings to take the lead with 1:50 left.

But Jared Goff kept his cool to lead Detroit to a game-winning drive, capping it with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown on the last play of the game. That saw Goff finish with 296 passing yards and three touchdowns, and gave him his first win since the Los Angeles Rams traded him for fellow quarterback Matt Stafford in the off-season.

Kyler Murray returned from three weeks out with an ankle injury to help the Arizona Cardinals win 33-22 at the Chicago Bears. The quarterback passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Cardinals improved to the NFL's best record to 10-2.

Brady completed 38 of 51 attempts as the defending champions improved to 9-3 and moved one step closer to clinching the NFC South title.

Tua Tagovailoa passed for 244 yards and two touchdowns as the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Giants 20-9 to claim their fifth straight win and move to 6-7.

With quarterback Jalen Hurts having suffered a sprained ankle last week, Gardner Minshew came in to make his first start for the Philadelphia Eagles and threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-18 win at the New York Jets.

Justin Herbert threw three touchdown passes as the Los Angeles Chargers charged into a 24-0 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals, who fought back to make it 24-22 in the third quarter before the Chargers regrouped to win 41-22.

Jonathan Taylor continues to run riot, this week helping the Indianapolis Colts to a 31-0 win at the Houston Texans. The NFL's rushing leader posted his seventh 100-yard rushing game this season and claimed two rushing touchdowns to reach a league-high 16 for 2021.

San Francisco 49ers 23-30 Seattle Seahawks
