Former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi continued his dominance of Paralympic hand-cycling by adding the H5 road time trial title to his two gold medals from London 2012.

The 49-year-old Italian, who is a six-time world champion, won the medal on the eve of the 15-year anniversary of when he lost both of his legs in a Champ Crash crash in Germany.

Manchester Untied manager Jose Mourinho is now facing the media to preview Thursday's Europa League group match in Feyenoord.

He starts by addressing by Wayne Rooney's absence from the match squad: 

"He plays every game since the beginning of the season and also 90 minutes for England. I want him to be fresh for the next Premier League match."

An eight-team Twenty20 competition is set to be introduced into English domestic cricket.

Representatives of all 18 first-class counties, Marylebone Cricket Club and Professional Cricketers' Association discussed proposed format changes.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was keen to introduce a lucrative T20 event to rival the Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash League.

The new tournament - which will take place in addition to the existing T20 Blast competition which involves all 18 first-class counties - is expected to begin in 2018.

"I'm dead, but I'm so proud," Kadeena Cox tells BBC Radio 5 live's Jeanette Kwayke after her second Rio 2016 gold medal, this time on the track.

"I can't believe I've done it but this is for everyone who has helped me. That was hard work out there.

"I took it steady over the first 200m but I think my bike training has really helped me in the back end of my race."

Wayne Rooney is not in Manchester United's Europa League squad for the trip to Feyenoord, so he'll have more time to chat to WBA lightweight boxing champion Anthony Crolla.

The Manchester United supporter dropped in at the club's training ground earlier before his unification fight against WBC 'Diamond' champion Jorge Linares on 24 Setember.

Great Britain captain Leon Smith has named his four-man team for this weekend's Davis Cup semi-final against Argentina and there is no place for doubles specialist Dom Inglot.

World number two Andy Murray leads the team and is joined by brother Jamie, fresh from winning the men's doubles title at the US Open, plus Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans. 

That makes it all but certain that the Murray brothers will partner each other in the doubles, with Andy playing all three days.

So far so good at the Sambadrome, where there have been first round wins for Nathan MacQueen and John Stubbs. 

MacQueen told me he was really nervous but still managed two perfect ends.

After an early start this morning he says he wants to have a sleep before his second round match.

Great Britain have suffered a narrow defeat in their opening game of the wheelchair rugby competition against Australia; the Green & Gold edging the match 53-51.

Both nations are expected to be in and around the medals in the final reckoning, but it is Australia - not Britain - who have made the perfect start. 

GB face Canada in their next group game on Thursday.

Watching Kadeena Cox nervously from the sidelines at the athletics stadium were tandem cyclists Sophie Thornhill and Helen Scott, who themselves won gold and bronze in the Velodrome at the weekend.

"I'm so happy. That was really tense but I'm so proud of her," Scott told me.

"She's a history-maker - it is incredible and I can't wait to see her later.

"We call her Kadeena the Machina. She is such a powerhouse and I can't imagine how she must be feeling right now, it's incredible."

Ex-Tottenham midfielder Micky Hazard is very excited about Spurs' Champions League return later.

For someone who only starting doing the 400m again this year and who is better known for her sprint prowess, that was a mightily impressive run in very hot conditions by Kadeena Cox.

Yes, world champion and world record holder Margarita Goncharova from Russia might have been absent, but you can only beat what is in front of you and Cox did it in style in a new world record.

She looked focused on the startline, got a good start and used her strength and power to get past China's Junfei Chen in the home straight.

There are those who had their doubts, but the Leeds woman is now a history-maker after becoming the first British athlete to win two gold medals in two sports at one Games in 32 years.

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk: "As a club it is amazing to be in this competition. We need to enjoy it but we have a lot of opportunities coming to get good results, and maybe progress in the group too.

"I think it is going to be a good game, we need to be ready and I think we are. I'm ready for it and I think the rest of the boys are as well.

"It's a reward from last season, we need to enjoy it but not forget that it is a big opportunity."

Another one - three golds in 15 minutes for Great Britain.

This time it's Sophie Wells in the dressage grade 4 individual championship test.

Riding Valerius, she scores 74.857 to beat Belgium's Michele George, who took silver, and Netherlands' Frank Hosmar in third.

Wells, 26, got two silvers and a gold in the team event at London 2012.
