Four Russian athletes have been stripped of Olympic medals won at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 after failing drugs tests - meaning British javelin thrower Goldie Sayers and the men's 4x400m team have been given bronze after finishing fourth eight years ago.

A re-analysis of javelin silver medalist Maria Abakumova's stored sample resulted in a positive test for a banned substance, the International Olympic Committee said.

And 400m runner Denis Alexeev has also been disqualified, meaning Andrew Steele, Robert Tobin, Michael Bingham and Martyn Rooney have been promoted.

The other Russian athletes disqualified following re-testing are 10,000m runner Inga Abitov and track cyclist Ekaterina Gnidenko.

Not content with one world record today - GB's Holly Arnold just went and smashed a second with her final throw of the F46 javelin event.

The 22-year-old two-time world champion set a new mark of 41.68m halfway through today's final and just to make sure of her first Paralympic gold she unleashed an insane 43.01m!

Although Arnold has compete at two Paralympics prior to Rio she has never been under the pressure to perform quite like this as she competed perfectly - never once letting the occasion get the better of her.

We were hoping to get a quick word with Arnold but she's just been whipped off for her medal presentation - we'll let her off - it's a big moment!

Great Britain's Hollie Arnold, speaking to Channel 4 after winning javelin gold: "This has been my absolute dream - I cannot believe I am Paralympic champion and double world champion. It is so surreal. 

"I've been injured for two months but coming here has been as clean slate and I just went out there with nothing to lose.

"I actually thought I had one more throw! When my coach told me I had won gold I just burst into tears. I didn't expect to break the world record by that much."

Paralympic champion Rob Davies, speaking to Channel 4 after winning gold in the men's table tennis: "I'm not really sure how I'm feeling right now! I can't believe I kept it together. I have played Young Dae Joo twice in competition before and lost both times.

"I must thank everybody for their support. We've been working hard behind the scenes and it has paid off. I'm chuffed I managed to keep it together. 

"I haven't beaten any of the Koreans for a while so to do it on the biggest stage is brilliant. Come on!"

You know that world record that Hollie Arnold set in the javelin earlier? She's already smashed it.

Arnold launches her final throw out towards the horizon and brings home gold with a flourish, breaking the world record she set minutes earlier with a throw of 43.01m.

The 22-year-old finished 11th and fifth in the event at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Britain's Rob Davies, 32, has won gold in the men's table tennis class one, beating South Korea's Young Dae Joo 3-1 in the final.

The Welsh world number one is a former Brecon RFC hooker who suffered a broken neck in September 2005 following a collapsed scrum against Ynysybwl.

British aerials skier Lloyd Wallace is competing in the World Series of aerials skiing this weekend... but on an indoor water ramp, the only one of its kind in the world...

Sergio Aguero is set to return and Ilkay Gundogan could make his debut as Manchester City begin their Champions League campaign against Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday.

Striker Aguero is one game into a three-match domestic ban and missed Saturday's win at Manchester United.

But he is fit to play despite missing Argentina's recent World Cup qualifiers with a calf problem.

Summer signing Gundogan has yet to play for City because of a dislocated knee.

The former Dortmund midfielder, 25, suffered the injury last season and has been out since May.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has been declared fit and ready to face Barcelona in their opening Champions League group match on Tuesday.

The midfielder was injured during their 5-1 Premiership win over Rangers on Saturday, but travelled to Spain.

The Scottish champions are without striker Leigh Griffiths, who is still recovering from a hamstring tear.

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta are set to return for Barcelona after being rested on Saturday.

Laurent Koscielny should be fit to face Paris St-Germain in Arsenal's opening Champions League group game on Tuesday.

The defender, who suffered a facial injury in Saturday's 2-1 win over Southampton, trained on Monday.

New signing Shkodran Mustafi should partner Koscielny, with Arsenal already without their other centre-backs Per Mertesacker and Gabriel because of injury.

Striker Olivier Giroud is pushing for his first start of the season in Paris.

"That would be his seventh Games, but to have secured six medals from six Paralympics already is an incredible achievement for the 36-year-old.

"I think some of my rivals didn't set their alarm clocks this morning - you have to show up for this early event to win the medals," he says with a beaming smile."

"I'm from Newcastle - I'm not used to this heat!" says GB's Stephen Miller after securing Paralympic bronze in F32 club throw competition.

Miller, who has cerebral palsy. won gold medals in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 before finishing second at Beijing 2008.

He had a devastating London 2012 where he didn't finish in the top eight and underwent a big hip operation soon after which has taken time to recover from.

"I'm over the moon, I wasn't expected to win a medal as I'm ranked sixth in the world," he tells BBC 5 Live.

"To come away with a bronze after what happened at London is incredible."
