The atmosphere is starting to build around the magnificent Stade de Nice as fans leave the sea front area and head out towards the stadium. 

England's fans waiting outside the team hotel in the centre of Nice were all smiles as they caught a glimpse of manager Roy Hodgson - he will be hoping they are in similarly buoyant mood after they have faced Iceland in this Euro 2016 last-16 meeting.

Joint Iceland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson says knocking England out of Euro 2016 would change the lives of his players.

The 49-year-old had to take time off work for this tournament as he juggles his role with the national team with his job as a part-time dentist.

"The players have already won the hearts of all Icelandic people for their performances," he said.

"If we beat England, their lives will significantly change forever. Icelandic football will go up in reputation and the way we approach football will be different.

"There aren't bigger chances than this for Icelandic football. It's just up to the players to play and hopefully we will beat England. But whichever way this goes, these players are winners already."

England boss Roy Hodgson has said there is no point in wondering what might have been.

Last Monday's 0-0 draw with Slovakia has left the Three Lions on the same side of the draw as Italy, Spain, France and Germany.

"All you can do is force yourself to worry only about the things you can do - to make certain that when you look in the mirror, as the players go out on to the field, you can look at yourself and say 'What else could I have done?'" Hodgson said.

"'Did we prepare well enough? Was the training right? Have I chosen the right team?'"

It's difficult to underestimate the significance of captain Ashley Williams being fit to face Belgium.

Gareth Bale is the talisman for Chris Coleman but Williams is the leader, whose appetite for battle was demonstrated by his refusal to leave the pitch when he sustained his shoulder injury against Northern Ireland.

Williams has played every minute of the European Championship - through qualifying and the finals - his defensive presence and organisation will be key to thwarting Belgium's much vaunted attacking prowess in Lille.

Here's more from Wales boss Chris Coleman, who says captain Ashley Williams will be fit for Friday's Euro 2016 quarter-final against Belgium.

''I would not say he was a worry or a doubt, but we know we have to look after him. I would be surprised if he does not make the game," said Coleman.

England manager Roy Hodgson will almost certainly be out of a job if England are knocked out of Euro 2016 by Iceland in Nice tonight, according to BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty.

Iceland are ranked 34th in the world and with a population of 330,000 - the same as Leicester.

Phil writes: "Hodgson has also had to deal with rumblings that some inside the FA were unhappy at his shock tactic of six changes against Slovakia with much still at stake, leaving England exposed to more dangerous opponents should they go deeper in Euro 2016."

Spain striker Alvaro Morata has warned his team-mates that they are facing an Italy team who are "almost tactically perfect".

The two sides meet in the second round in Paris at 17:00 BST.

The 23-year-old has just returned to Real Madrid after two seasons with Juventus.

"It's difficult to attack against them, they are specialists," he said. "It will be one of the most important games of my career."

Portugal have avoided punishment after a pitch invader took a selfie with captain Cristiano Ronaldo during a Euro 2016 match.

The incident drew a charge from Uefa, but the case was closed after a meeting of its independent disciplinary body.

The fan had been allowed to run half the length of the pitch to get the picture, during the goalless draw with Austria on June 18.

Ronaldo was happy to oblige, waving stewards away and posing.

Meanwhile, Belgium have been fined 5,000 euros (£4,170) by European football's governing body Uefa after fans set off fireworks during their 3-0 victory over Republic of Ireland in Group E, also on 18 June.

Sabine Lisicki was in no mood to hang about in her first-round win over Shelby Rogers today.

The German hit four aces in the first game to hold serve in just 52 seconds before going on to win 6-1 6-3.

Kyle Edmund's Wimbledon is over already after he lost 6-2 5-5 6-4 to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.

Meanwhile, fellow Briton James Ward is acquitting himself well against world number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic on Centre Court.

Ward trailed 6-0 3-0 but has fought back and it's now 5-4 on serve to Djokovic in the second set.

We posed the question whether, as is expected to happen, Raheem Sterling should start for England against Iceland in the Euro 2016 last-16 tonight.

The response was fairly resounding with 81% of those who took part saying no and only 19% agreeing with manager Roy Hodgson's (reported) plan.

Tammy Beaumont scored 168 not out as England reached 366-4 from their 50 overs.

That's the joint fourth-highest score in women's one-day international history but falls 12 short of the 378 they scored at Worcester in the second game of the series.

Friday's quarter-final meeting between Belgium and Wales will be the fifth time the two teams have met since September 2012.

Marc Wilmots' side have won their last three matches in the Euros, scoring eight and conceding none.

"I watched the game last night and it was a convincing win," Wales boss Chris Coleman said.

"They play the way they play and they have players who would grace any international team.

"In the last four years we've had four meetings. We've won one, they've won one and we've drawn two so we have nothing to be afraid of."

Wales boss Chris Coleman says skipper Ashley Williams has not dislocated his shoulder and will be fit for Friday's quarter-final against France.

Williams was hurt after colliding with team-mate Jonny Williams in Saturday's last-16 win over Northern Ireland.

"We think it was when he fell, he fell on his hand with a straight arm," said Coleman.

"He'll be OK, he'll be fine. It's probably a bit more sore today than yesterday. We'll get him on the grass as soon as we can. It probably won't be for another day or two - we need to look after him."
