Cardiff Devils missed the opportunity to close the gap on Elite League leaders Nottingham Panthers as they lost 2-1 against Manchester Storm.

Josh MacDonald put the Devils ahead with the only goal of the first period, as Cardiff looked to move a point behind Panthers.

Brady Gilmour levelled for Manchester midway through the middle period.

Joey Dudek gave Storm a first lead of the evening with under nine minutes remaining on the power play.

And Manchester held on for victory, as they moved up to fifth - 10 points behind league leaders Nottingham.

Devils, meanwhile, drop to third following Belfast Giants' 4-1 win over Panthers.

Storm face a daunting trip to Belfast on Sunday to take on the in-form Giants while Cardiff return to south Wales to host Glasgow Clan.
