Il Etait Temps powered over the line in the Queen Mother Champion Chase to earn trainer Willie Mullins his third win of day two at Cheltenham Festival.

Majborough was the odds-on favourite to claim victory in the big race of the day but a poor jumping display made it an impossible victory.

A mistake at the final fence almost cost Il Etait Temps the win, but jockey Paul Townend steered him over the line at the Festival's first Ladies Day in five years.

"There was a lot of work put into this horse after Ascot so I have a lot of people to thank," Townend told ITV Racing. "It shows how tough this lad is. He's such a courageous horse again today. He was flat as a pan everywhere.

"I wasn't going to force him but he just found his rhythm."

  4. Second horse dies at Cheltenham Festivalpublished at 17:35 GMT

A second horse has died at Cheltenham Festival after falling at the final flight in the BetMGM Cup Handicap Hurdle on Wednesday.

A statement from the racecourse said HMS Seahorse was attended to by vets "immediately" after falling, but could not be saved.

It follows the death of Hansard on Tuesday, who was put down after getting injured on the flat in the Singer Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase.

In a short statement, a Cheltenham Racecourse spokesperson said: "HMS Seahorse was immediately attended to by a team of expert vets, but sadly sustained an injury at the final hurdle and could not be saved.

"Our heartfelt condolences are with connections."

A working holiday for Colin Keane. A real authoritative performance. He was in a perfect position and he stayed up strongly going up the hill.

A very impressive ride from Colin Keane!

The 15-2 shot had jets in his horseshoes as he kicked for home, bursting from the pack and through the frontrunners.

A good race to end a fascinating day.

We finish as we begin, with a false start.

There were some very unhappy horses coming to the line there. All the runners are aged between four and six, so it's a young, boisterous field.

  20. Four in a day for Mullins?published at 17:15 GMT

The Weatherbys Champion Bumper (17.20 GMT)

Willie Mullins has in general had an iron grip on this race - and has three winners already today - but Gordon Elliott's Keep Him Company could break that in this final event of the day.

Just half a furlong over two miles, this is a packed field with 22 in contention. Keep Him Company however has proved capable of running with stronger fields at recent meets.

Overnight favourite was Love Sign D'aunou, who represents Mullins' prime shot here. He impressed at Naas recently.

The Irish Avatar is another strong contender from the Mullins stable.
