Ipswich Town have gained significant ground in the race for automatic promotion in the Championship, Wycombe have boosted their League One play-off hopes, as have Chesterfield in League Two, and Stockport are going to Wembley for the EFL Trophy final.

All in a night's work in the EFL.

The substitutes made a big difference and they came at the right time. If those players had started it might have been a different game, but I'm glad McKenna recognized that.

It was a huge win. If you look at Hull's position in the table now, they face a real uphill battle to overtake us now.

It was strange how the atmosphere was so quiet given the occasion, but it was just a case of the game looking so tough. It sort of tells a picture of how the game went.

Ollie Norwood's first-half free-kick has sent Stockport to Wembley in the EFL Trophy.

The match-winner told Sky Sports:

"It feels good but we made really hard work of it in the second-half.

"The chances we had in the first-half we probably should have been out of sight.

"We've had a tough time in the league so it's a bit of a distraction and everyone's delighted.

"They chucked bodies forward to try to get back in the game but we had to take a bit more care with the ball and we're through to the final and that's all that matters."

On his goal from a direct free-kick:

"I said I fancied a shot, the angle looked right and went for it and luckily it went in.

"It didn't matter who scored and we can look forward to the final."

Big results at the top and bottom of League Two.

Leaders Bromley are held by Oldham Athletic in a goalless draw - it's the first time they have failed to score at home since Bradford won 1-0 at Hayes Lane in February 2025.

Chesterfield are up into the play-off spots after a 3-0 win over Colchester United, while Grimsby Town jump three places and above Salford City after beating them 3-1.

Walsall missed the opportunity to make up ground on the top seven as they lost 1-0 at home to Fleetwood Town.

But arguably the biggest result of the night came at Rodney Parade, where a 3-1 win for Newport County over 10-man Tranmere Rovers has lifted them not only off the bottom of the table - but also out of the relegation zone.

A third successive win gets Wycombe into the League One play-off places for the first time this season.

They beat Barnsley 1-0 and, remember they were beaten semi-finalists last season.

Rotherham remain in the drop zone as they could only draw 0-0 with Mansfield while Burton and Exeter boosted their survival hopes by sharing a 1-1 draw.

Here is what that Azor Matusiwa wonder strike for Ipswich does to the top of the Championship table.

The Tractor Boys are now just three points behind second-placed Middlesbrough with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

Town welcome Boro to Portman Road in April. What a game that promises to be.

Hull City remain six points adrift of the automatic promotion spots and seven points clear of Southampton in seventh.

Stockport are going to Wembley in the EFL Trophy.

Rovers making nine changes to their starting 11 backfired and they are left to try to save their League One status.

Stockport will try to go one better than 1992 and 1993 when they finished runners-up in successive years in this competition.

They will meet either Luton or Northampton in next month's final.

That is brilliant from Ben Osborn of Stockport.

Luke Molyneux is about to apply the finishing touch and he thinks nab the equaliser but Osborn dives in to make a crucial tackle.

Molyneux is booked as he feels he was fouled as well.

We will have four minutes of time added on.

The visitors can almost taste Wembley.

Tactically I really liked they way Hull set things out and they got things right, except from that one spell in the game.

It is a hard one to take but they need to remember they are where they are for a reason.

Wycombe Wanderers are into the League One play-off places.

Aaron Morley's second-half goal proves decisive as they win 1-0 at Barnsley.

Rotherham United miss the chance to move out of the relegation zone as they are held to a goalless draw at home by Mansfield Town.

Matt Taylor earns a point on his return as Exeter City boss.

They fell behind at home to Burton Albion through Udoka Godwin-Malife's vicious strike before Josh Magennis nudged in the equaliser having only just come on as a substitute.

Isaac Olaofe almost wraps it up for Stockport but that man Zander Clark in the Doncaster goal again makes the save.

A big, big win for Ipswich in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Huge roars ring around Portman Road.
