Bayern Munich moved 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga in style with an eight-goal thrashing of Wolfsburg.

England striker Harry Kane took his league tally to 20 goals in 16 matches this season, bending a stunning right-footed strike into the far top corner to put his side 6-1 up.

Wolfsburg set a Bundesliga record by scoring an own goal for a third consecutive game when Kilian Fischer diverted Luis Diaz's cut-back into his own net in the fifth minute.

The visitors responded through Dzenan Pejcinovic's equaliser, but Bayern stormed back to take complete control.

Diaz restored their advantage by heading in Michael Olise's cross for his ninth league goal of the season, before the French forward struck twice himself in the second half of his 50th Bundesliga match for Bayern.

Olise curled home his first five minutes after half-time and added a second in the 76th minute.

By then, a Moritz Jenz own goal and finishes from Raphael Guerreiro and Kane had already extended their commanding lead.

Leon Goretzka added an eighth from a tight angle in the 88th minute as Vincent Kompany's side made the perfect start as the league resumed following its winter break.

Second-placed Borussia Dortmund drew 3-3 at Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.
