West Brom interim boss James Morrison speaking to BBC Radio WM:

"We were a bit passive first half, I wasn't really happy with that. We addressed it at half time, then we got a reaction.

"I didn't feel that they were on top or causing us a bit of trouble around the goalmouth, I don't think Max [O'Leary] really had much to do until they scored and we opened up trying to get back in the game.

"I have been talking about staying in the game, giving ourselves chances. We were away from home, we had to be solid, we had to make it a little bit ugly, we had to slow it down at times and wait for that moment when they come.

"We were a bit desperate in the final third, we were trying to score every time but it's not the case we can take that extra pass.

"On the other hand, George [Campbell] intercepts it and buries it."

Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened West Brom, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"The performance wasn't of the standard I expect of the group, especially at this stage of the season.

"It was lose, we didn't really affect the game. The front four didn't affect the game enough and when you are in games like this - well, any home game - your front four have got to come alive.

"I didn't think we had enough out of them.

"Sydie [Peck] and Jairo [Riedewald] were OK. We had control of the game first half without really hurting them. When we got in those advanced positions we didn't really find any quality. I thought it was an average first-half performance.

"We got ourselves in front [then] we miss two or three really good chances. That second goal, we needed it because they were always going to stick it on us late on and we didn't handle it.

"The goal sort of summed it up really. Really bad decisions."

Manager Jones shared his thoughts with BBC's Louis Mendez after their 1-0 home win

Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones speaking to BBC Radio London:

"Yeah it was a huge win. What we said all week was we needed to follow up the performance from last week, we should have won the game comfortably last week, but we did [today].

"It was a very good performance against a very good side, a side that were backed heavily, in terms of as the side that won our league last year [League One].

"They're very, very difficult to play against and I thought the level of performance was fantastic."

  6. 'The boys did everything to get a result'published at 18:16 GMT 7 March

    FT: Derby 2-1 Sheff Wed

    Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"I think we competed really, really well.

"I think we started the game really well, we were really strong, organised.

"We have spoken about that we could let the centre-back have the ball a little bit more because we know a big part of the game from them is a lot of crossing, and I think we closed down for this a lot.

"After 1-0 we came strong back in the game, there was no evaluation, only next action, and I think we drew 1-1, very, very deserved.

"Then the rest of first half we had some we were organised, had some good transition, but again the theme to have the last dribbling, have the last pass, to make the chances bigger than what we did and then I think second half was a very equal second half.

"You could see the boys did everything to get a result here."

  7. 'We need to lick our wounds' - Robinspublished at 18:13 GMT 7 March

    FT: Swansea 2-0 Stoke

    Stoke City

Stoke manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Stoke:

"We had two unbelievably good chances to get our noses in front. We've got to take those chances and then we had a goal disallowed.

"Then it's compounded by Sorba [Thomas] having a yellow card that didn't look like one – how can you be penalised for trying to take a shot mid-air and somebody putting their head down?

"That put him on a tightrope and then, for all the good he has done, that loss of discipline can't happen if that was a kick out. He has given the game away.

"The goal that we conceded was really poor but we still carried a threat right up until the end. We need to lick our wounds ready for the game [against Ipswich] on Tuesday."

  8. 'A good performance' - Matospublished at 18:10 GMT 7 March

    FT: Swansea 2-0 Stoke

    Swansea City

Swansea head coach Vitor Matos told BBC Wales:

"It was a good performance. We started the game really aggressively and with intensity, good speed on the ball, positioning and counter-press.

"The red card gave us an advantage but then it is about having the right structure, mindset and discipline, which we did.

"The goal gave us a little bit of tranquillity and we kept the momentum for 70 minutes. Stoke reacted but we stayed calm to get the game back under control.

"The bench was really important and when you have Liam you can always score, which he did with a wonderful goal. It was beautiful with the right amount of speed and power."

  9. 'We should have had a penalty' - McKennapublished at 18:03 GMT 7 March

Kieran McKenna confronts the match officials at full-timeImage source, Shutterstock

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna believes they should have had a penalty in stoppage time of for a foul on Cedric Kipre by Leicester's Hamza Choudhury on Cedric Kipre. McKenna told BBC Radio Suffolk:

"I thought it was clear we should have had a penalty.

"The referee said he didn't see it but for me you can't miss it because as soon as Dara (O'Shea) crosses it there's nowhere else to look and Cedric (Kipre) is ready to attack the ball and gets wiped out - I thought we should have had two penalties in the second-half.

"I really liked us in the second-half, the way we chased the game and the pressure we put on.

"It is what it is, we take the positives, there are things we can take like conceding a goal from a set-piece but the way we pushed in the second-half and dominated a Leicester side full of quality and pushed for the winning goal there are real positives in there."

  10. 'Effort is testament to the players' - Rowettpublished at 17:58 GMT 7 March

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Gary Rowett on the touchline at Ipswich in their 1-1 drawImage source, Shutterstock

Leicester boss Gary Rowett says a draw at Ipswich was probably a fair result. He told BBC Radio Leicester:

"First and foremost we knew we had three away games out of the first four fixtures against really in form teams.

"To come here and do what we've done is testament to the players trying to buy into the structure and what we're trying to do.

"We maybe should have done better early on with Harry Winks' shot and Stephy (Mavididi).

"I liked the look of us in the first-half and to go a goal ahead with a well worked set-piece we were pleased at half-time

"They play with an incredible energy and we were under pressure in the second-half. We were backed up and didn't use the ball well enough but maybe that's because of the run we're in.

"I'm disappointed to concede but I can't complain Ipswich didn't deserve something for their efforts."

Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber says his side need to improve in both boxes after falling to a 2-0 defeat at home to league leaders Coventry City. He told BBC Radio Bristol:

"I think again we see a little bit the same story. Really cheap goals we conceded and not sharp enough, not clean enough in the opponent's box.

"I think we have enough xG that we could score. In both boxes we are at the moment not sharp enough, especially with how cheap we give goals. This cannot be our standard."

"This is something, of course, we are not happy with at the moment, how we are in front of goal, This is a big issue at the moment.

"But also we have to be a lot more reliable in our last line."

Derby County head coach John Eustace speaks after the game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Derby County head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby:

"I thought it was a great win.

"There's no guarantees in any game that you should win the game, Sheffield Wednesday are playing with a lot of freedom, we knew it was always going to be very difficult.

"Usually in most games when they've played it's usually lose by one goal, so a really difficult game but delighted with the win.

"It's about the mentality of the group and I thought that we scored a great goal initially and then we were really poor for the defending for their equaliser.

"They had some good possession, some good spells without really hurting us, but we always looked a threat on the transition going forward.

"I thought second half we played some really good football when the game opened up and if we'd have been a bit more clinical in that final third it could have been three or four."

Patson Daka scored for Leicester City in their 1-1 draw at Ipswich. He told BBC Radio Leicester:

"It was good, we could have hoped for more, to be honest we wanted the three points but we defended really well today.

"Especially in the second half, we defended our box really well. It was unlucky the goalkeeper conceded but everyone put their bodies on the line.

"We gave everything for each other. I think it's a good point for us because against a good side, we knew it was going to be a tough game.

"But it's going to be a very big point for us moving forward."

    • Only Millwall and Norwich City (both 8) have recorded more wins in the Championship in 2026 than Derby County (7), while the Rams have won three successive home league games for the first time since November.

  15. 'Absolutely furious with what we've done'published at 17:34 GMT 7 March

    FT: Blackburn 1-1 Portsmouth

    Portsmouth

Porstmouth manager John Mousinho said he was "absolutely furious" with his team after conceding a stoppage time equaliser to draw 1-1 with Blackburn at Ewood Park.

    Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent:

"Heartbreaking would be a word I'd use if we didn't deserve to concede at the back end.

"We thoroughly deserved to go a goal ahead, once we were a goal ahead, I don't know what happened to us.

"We stopped defending properly, we stopped landing on second balls, we stopped winning first contacts and stopped doing things that had made us a good side for 85 minutes.

"I can't describe it like that [as heartbreaking]. I'm absolutely furious with what we've done."

  16. 'We were tense and nervous'published at 17:30 GMT 7 March

    FT: Blackburn 1-1 Portsmouth

    Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers boss Michael O'Neill told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"The game probably tells you where both teams are, the seasons they have had, and what is at stake.

"We have to be pleased, given we were behind going into stoppage time. I thought we showed good character to keep going. We had the better chances, but we were a bit tense and nervous at times.

"We limited them to very little but we didn't take care of the ball enough to take control of the game. But if you can't win the game the key is not to lose it and we managed not to do that.

"We are disappointed not have had a penalty awarded to us at 0-0, too, and if he [Yuki Ohashi] makes good contact in the first few minutes it would have been a different situation.

"In terms of attitude the lads gave everything they should. The subs gave us energy when they came on, too."

  17. 'We defended well and were ruthless in their box'published at 17:26 GMT 7 March

    FT: Hull 1-3 Millwall

    Millwall

Millwall head coach Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

"What we did do is defend our box well. We always dig in and we always do the basics pretty well, and that gives you a chance. The points are important, but the performances are also important.

"They were a bit brighter and moved the ball better but what counts is what happens in boxes, we defended really well and were ruthless in their box.

"As far as duels went, too many times we weren't good enough. But you need to win games in a variety of different ways as I don't think everyone plays well every week.

"I don't pay attention to the table – we've got a hell of a lot of work to do to get where we want to – but us winning just gives us a bit of a buffer."

  18. 'Always frustrating when you know you play good'published at 17:23 GMT 7 March

    FT: Hull 1-3 Millwall

    Hull City

Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic told BBC Radio Humberside:

"This was the best home performance since I've been here because we played a very good game, we created a lot of chances and missed a lot of chances.

"It's always a frustrating defeat when you know you play good but sometimes I'm not happy with our performance and we take one or three points.

"If you didn't watch the game, you'd think Millwall kill you [us] but we were very good and I hope we will continue like this because there are a lot of games in front of us and you never know.

"We made two mistakes (in the second half), we dropped too much, didn't attack the ball but this is football, there is always something happening that you didn't expect and we have to take the lessons from this."

Ipswich will wonder how they have not won that in the end as they laid siege to the Leicester goal.

Jordan James made a crucial block to deny Darnell Furlong and that messy challenge from Hamza Choudhury on Cedric Kipre at the end could easily have been seen as a penalty.

Ipswich will rue not taking their chances but for Leicester this is a golden point and Gary Rowett has certainly instilled some resilience into his side.
