  2. 'Probably the most frustrating game of the season'published at 22:41 GMT 5 November 2025

    FT: QPR 1-2 Southampton

    QPR

QPR boss Julien Stephan told BBC Radio London:

"It was probably the most frustration at the end of the game since the start of the season. We are very disappointed but I am very proud of the players and how they played.

"Sometimes in football you don’t get what you deserve. Most important is to be positive because I think we did a good performance, perhaps the best since the start of the season, especially against a low block."

  3. 'I'm proud of the performance'published at 22:37 GMT 5 November 2025

    FT: Sheff Wed 1-1 Norwich

    Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday made it two games unbeaten with their 1-1 draw against Norwich at Hillsborough.

The Owls boss Henrik Pedersen has been speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Frustrated and proud because I think the boys delivered a great game tonight.

"From the first moment we had courage to play - we wanted to have the ball, make a difference with the ball and were patient.

"We created some good chances - after their goal we came back into the game and had some chances.

"I'm proud of the performance, defensively we were strong, we created more in offensive transitions.

"There were still a lot of errors there but we're moving in the right direction."

QPR couldn't even beat a poor Southampton side with a novice manager - QPR are a club going literally nowhere. Rudderless, no ambition and no guidance. The players, it's obvious, don't even care and are clueless.

  5. 'Hopefully we have switched momentum'published at 22:30 GMT 5 November 2025

    FT: QPR 1-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton skipper Jack Stephens told BBC Radio Solent:

"It’s a really good result and a small step to where we want to be. We’re all aware things haven’t been good enough from everyone involved - nobody is responsible on their own, we're all responsible.

"Hopefully we have switched the momentum with that result and we can kick on for the rest of the season.

"Momentum's massive in this league. You have to start somewhere and tonight was a really good starting point for us. It's a big result but a small step in the right direction."

Norwich ended a six-game losing run tonight but they had to come from behind to draw 1-1 at bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday.

Boss Liam Manning has been talking to BBC Radio Norfolk:

"We've stopped the run of losses which is important and we deserved a point, I think.

"We should have gone ahead really early on and then we concede a fantastic finish but we just didn't respond again and that's the issue.

"We showed a response in the second half which we need to show from the start to the end - that fight, intent and purpose.

"We had numerous good opportunities but where we're at at the moment it's about having real intent and purpose with your actions."

On an apparent bust up between himself, Kenny McLean and Shane Duffy during a first-half injury break:

"It was heat of the moment - Kenny was fine, me and Kenny were chatting.

"I think it was frustration more than anything, we spoke about it, dealt with it and that's it."

  7. 'It's a step in the right direction'published at 22:21 GMT 5 November 2025

    FT: Sheff Wed 1-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

Mathias Kvistgaarden equalised for Norwich to end a six-game losing streak for the Canaries tonight.

    He's told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"We have to go home and look at what went wrong when we didn't play well today but we have to take the point and say it's a step in the right direction.

"In the second half we got some energy which we know we have missed a bit, we are not happy but satisfied with the point.

"We've been good at staying together as a team - we've had some good meetings with talks among team-mates.

"There's no me, it's about the team right now - it's not fun to look at the league table but there are a lot of games left."

Preston North End jump up to fourth place with their third successive league win and they go to Millwall on Saturday.

Norwich are up one place with their draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

Southampton move above their south coast rivals Portsmouth following their win at QPR and Pompey's draw with Wrexham.

  9. 'The resilience was good from the boys'published at 22:12 GMT 5 November 2025

    FT: QPR 1-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Interim Southampton boss Tonda Eckert told BBC Radio Solent:

"The boys have put an excellent shift in and managed to get through the second half, there were some hard spells there but it was a deserved win in the end.

"My job is to prepare the boys to win football games, that’s it. The resilience was good tonight, that’s everything, especially if you come out of a tough period, it speaks for the character of the boys, I hope the fans see that we have left everything on the pitch. That’s what gets you three points in the end."

I think Sheffield Weds are down regardless but a draw doesn't help Norwich with Southampton winning, Portsmouth drawing and Blackburn winning yesterday. Unfortunately what it will do is give Liam Manning another week....

    Jason, Cornwall

Alright so, Knapper has to go. These purchases, might be for the future, but the players lost and quality brought in is a wide difference. Manning isn’t the problem, tactics negative sure. “Keep an eye to the future and one to the past” so the saying goes.

    Stevie, London

Although Norwich’s issues run deeper within the club, Manning needs to go now to stop the rot. His tactics aren’t working, and he lacks the experience to inspire this group. The players don’t have the quality or Championship experience required, and the club has wasted around £55 million.

  11. 'It was chalk and cheese from Saturday'published at 22:05 GMT 5 November 2025

    FT: Portsmouth 0-0 Wrexham

    Portsmouth

After picking up the player of the match award on his first start since September, Josh Murphy told Sky Sports:

"I think we can happy, obviously it's not three points but it's chalk and cheese from the weekend (a 4-0 defeat at Birmingham)

"We can be happy with the performance and go into the next game with confidence

"It looked like we wanted to win, I thought we defended well from the front and had some chances. There was plenty of improvement.

"We created the chances just didn't put them in the net, The togetherness is massive in the squad."

Great win for Preston after a wonderful strike. Swansea great in open play but our PNE showing we are able to control games this season and rotate our squad. Lots of hope we can keep this run going.

    Portsmouth 0-0 Wrexham

    Somehow, it ends goalless.

Josef Bursik is the main reason, as the Pompey keeper produced a couple of stunning saves to deny Kieffer Moore's downward header before the break and Lewis O'Brien when clean through after it, while at the other end Arthur Okonkwo superbly denied Josh Murphy's low strike and blocked Ibane Bowat's effort on the line too.

It was a fine response for Pompey after their humbling at Birmingham on Saturday, but whisper it at Fratton, the Blues have now slipped below their neighbours in the Championship table.

I think having the fans back in the stadium helped draw them on.

They are still here clapping them off.

They just were not clinical enough with their 1-1 chances.

I think once the players get in the changing room they will be a little bit disappointed they have not got over the line, but they have given everything and deserve to have got over the line here tonight.

There ends a real basement battle in the Championship.

Norwich have stopped the rot, but only got a point on the road against the bottom club.

I do not think it is a performance that will silence critics or win hearts and minds, but at least it is not a defeat.
