Andri Gudjohnsen's sixth goal of the season looked to have earned Blackburn the points until Ipswich's late equaliser

Sindre Walle Egeli's last-minute equaliser snatched an unlikely point for Ipswich against Blackburn in a replayed Championship game after the initial match was abandoned in September.

The match on 20 September was abandoned after 79 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch with Blackburn leading 1-0 and the EFL later said the fixture would have to be replayed in full.

Todd Cantwell scored the goal in the initial match and it was his corner that was flicked on by George Pratt to Andri Gudjohnsen, who steered in from close range to give Rovers a 76th-minute lead.

Blackburn had dealt with a toothless Ipswich display fairly comfortably until the last of four added minutes, when Jack Clarke laid the ball off to Egeli in space in the box and he calmly slotted past Aynsley Pears to ensure the spoils were shared.

In September's abandoned fixture Blackburn were 1-0 up through Cantwell's penalty and also had a man advantage after Jacob Greaves' red card when play was halted at Ewood Park.

While Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna welcomed the decision, Blackburn head coach Valerien Ismael branded it "a disgrace".

Ismael's mood is unlikely to be any lighter after watching his side come within seconds of what he would believe was a deserved three points.

Clearly fired-up by the circumstances of the fixture, Blackburn shaded a competitive match which was ultimately low on quality, and their players sunk to the turf as the final whistle sounded.

Rovers were unchanged from Saturday's draw against Wrexham while Ipswich boss McKenna continued his trend of tinkering and changed half his outfield line-up with Ashley Young, Chuba Akpom, Kasey McAteer, Clarke and Ivan Azon all coming in.

Young, 40, was a positive attacking influence down the right for the visitors early on and sent in a cross to Azon but his header was weak, with Blackburn's Gudjohnsen having a header saved by Christian Walton soon after.

Blackburn's attitude and application seemed to knock Ipswich off their stride as the Tractor Boys struggled to get any attacking rhythm going.

The hosts felt Ipswich should have been down to 10 men shortly before the break as Azor Matusiwa brought down Ryoya Morishita as he chased a long ball in behind but the referee felt Leif Davis was providing enough cover to only show the Ipswich midfielder yellow.

The decision did not go down well with the Rovers faithful as a competitive first half which simmered away without ever coming to the boil ended goalless.

The second half began how the first started with plenty of endeavour but little goalmouth action.

Rovers eventually found the breakthrough when Pratt glanced a corner from Cantwell, making his return after nine games out injured, to the back post where Gudjohnsen arrived to turn in his sixth goal in eight games.

Blackburn looked to have done enough but Ipswich came forward in the final minute of added time and finally found some inspiration as Clarke's awareness found the waiting Egeli who showed excellent composure to slot home.

What's next?

Both sides have two home games coming up. Rovers host bottom side Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday before Oxford United visit next Tuesday. Ipswich have two testing fixtures with runaway leaders Coventry first up on Saturday before Stoke City visit Portman Road next Wednesday.

'It's unacceptable' - Ismael

Blackburn head coach Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"We were very strong, we pressed well and forced mistakes. It was a great first half and the second half we were solid. We took the lead and conceded the goal again so it's very painful.

"Normally we should talk about the three points tonight to enjoy but tonight I cannot not talk about the referee, enough is enough, we just put the list for all the decisions this season against us.

"The (lack of a) red card is a disgrace. It's terrible. I can't accept that. It's a penalty on Yuki [Ohashi] and the last situation is a corner for us (before Ipswich's equaliser) so again the standard from the referee in the Championship is terrible.

"Every game, every three days it's always the same with the decision and standard is really poor. It's unacceptable, it can happen one or two decisions I didn't say anything but now that one with the red card it is obvious.

"This is a terrible decision that's why I have to talk about it tonight it's very disgraceful to show that kind of performance because no one can understand and follow the decision making from the referee.

"Every time is the same it's always sorry but we what we want is to raise the standard. It can't stay like this."

'A poor performance' - McKenna

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna told BBC Radio Suffolk:

"Not good. I don't think it was a good performance in any aspect. It was a tough game but we weren't good enough so I don't think the performance merited anything from it.

"We're happy we got the moment at the end and happy for Sindre. The reality of this season is we can have more chances and shots [than the opposition] but if we don't win it will be called a bad performance and it think we've had lots of games like that this year.

"In reality, we are one of the top teams in the league on most things, we've had among the most shots, we don't concede many shots, we're certainly not as smooth as what I would want us to be but I think there's been good things about the performance but we haven't turned that into results.

"Tonight was different, tonight was a poor performance. We know we have a lot to improve and tonight was a big step back in performance and we need to deliver much more."
