London City Lionesses manager Eder Maestre: "We started quite well in the first half. We had good spells in possession. The goal we conceded was very disappointing because we were doing well in the game.

"We tried to change some things and tried to give the team the belief and the mindset we’ve spoken about this week. I thought our second-half performance was amazing.

"It's the result we wanted and been working hard to get. Hopefully we're able to make another step. It's not only about performing well against this kind of opponent."

On Delphine Cascarino: "She needs to keep moving forward and building confidence, but it's amazing watching her play here."

Freddie: United’s players were on their last legs out there (injures, amount of games etc) but they still fought through for the win. That’s what I call character.

Spurs boss Martin Ho speaking to Sky Sports: "A game of two halves. First half, we didn't compete at all. Second half, we did compete, better with duels and more organised. We had numerous chances and could have got a few goals but we can't perform in that way in the first half and expect to come out with more.

"First half we need to make sure that doesn't hapepn again for remainder of the season. The first half, we had numerous chances on the break and some chances when we built up but in the second half we had more control with ball and more control in defence.

On next weekend's North London derby: "We need to rest, recover, reflect on the game when we come back in. Every game is big in the WSL but we need to make sure we don't get too low with the lows and look at the positives."

  8. 'Gutted to not walk away with a point'published at 14:31 GMT

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan: "It's really frustrating, really disappointing, but sometimes that's football. We worked really hard to get back in the game. We weren't great in the first half and we came back in the second half and played really well. We are really gutted not to walk away with a point.

"We know the quality that we have and in the first half we didn't show that quality on the ball and United punished us. We had a great reaction and we were pushing the whole time. It sucks. It's really hard to not walk away with anything."

"That's what this one [Khadija Shaw] did, that's what we did. I felt like I was playing Fifa with her, like going three goals in 12 minutes. But we are just really proud of the result."
