    At Windsor Park, Linfield reignited their hopes of retaining the Gibson Cup with a narrow win over Glentoran to move to within five points of leaders Larne.

    Earlier at Solitude, Cliftonville claimed north Belfast derby bragging rights with a thumping 5-2 victory over struggling Crusaders at Solitude.

    That result, coupled with Glenavon's impressive 3-1 win away to Bangor, means the Lurgan Blues are now just seven points off the Crues.

    Portadown made it back-to-back league wins with a 1-0 victory over Dungannon Swifts at Shamrock Park.

    A draw would have been the fair result but Linfield had that wee bit of luck and quality to win the game. A good game of football and it sets it up lovely for the League Cup final in a few weeks and sets Linfield up well for Tuesday night in another big game against Larne.

    It's all over at Windsor Park where Matthew Fitzpatrick's goal on the hour earns the points for Linfield.

    The striker was in the right place at the time to stab home after Ethan McGee's long throw wasn't cleared by the Glentoran defence.

    Glentoran piled the pressure on in the closing stages but David Healy's side held on to extend their unbeaten run to nine games and put themselves firmly back in the title race.
