Blackburn are now five points clear of the drop zone
Blackburn Rovers were held to a second successive goalless draw in the Championship against bottom club Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
It was a dominant performance from Valerien Ismael's side, but they could not find the crucial breakthrough.
Owls goalkeeper Pierce Charles made a string of key saves to keep his side in the contest.
The visitors remain 19th after also playing out a stalemate at Middlesbrough on 26 December, while Sheffield Wednesday have still only won once all season.
Rovers dominated possession and went close inside six minutes, but Moussa Baradji could not head Matty Litherland's cross on target.
Moments later, Charles denied Todd Cantwell with a diving save after he picked the ball up on the edge of the area.
Superb defending from Wednesday's Cole McGhee kept the scores level as he stopped Yuki Ohashi getting a shot away after he was found by Axel Henriksson on the left.
The hosts' first chance fell to Barry Bannan just shy of the half hour mark. After being released over the top, the Scot attempted to chip Aynsley Pears, but it landed the wrong side of the post.
Blackburn began the second half as they did the first, in full control.
Litherland forced Charles into another save before Baradji volleyed over from inside the box.
The pressure kept coming, but Ohashi failed to give Blackburn the lead on 63 minutes, heading narrowly wide after a flick on from a corner.
Cantwell went close again, but his effort was deflected wide after meeting Henriksson's flick on.
Wednesday almost stole the three points, but Gabriel Otegbayo could not find the target from six yards after he was picked out by McGhee, and their winless run now stretches to 17 matches.
'I'm proud of how we kept working' - Sheff Wed reaction
Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield:
"It was a tough game. Blackburn are a good away team and we knew it would be a tough evening.
"We worked very hard. We were not fresh, but I'm really happy with how we kept on working throughout the game.
"We all know what happens when we're tired. For the boys to keep this togetherness and tactical discipline was really strong. We had four senior players in the team, they took a big responsibility and the young guys followed on and worked hard.
"There are many things we would like to do better with a fresh team but we will take the point today."
'We aren't hitting the target enough' - Ismael
Blackburn Rovers manager Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"We started the game well, we created chances but the quality in the last pass [wasn't there]. After that we lost control because we were too sloppy, we let Wednesday back in the game.
"The only thing I can complain about is we are not hitting the target. We put ourselves in positions to create chances but it is something we must work on.
"We missed the goal to help us but on the other hand we take the positives; we are solid.
"It is three clean sheets in a row now. It is pressure on the next game against Wrexham; win it and it is a great run, lose and it is tough. We are focused; we can be pleased with two clean sheets in away games but we should have scored."
