Experienced defender Luke Ayling has signed a new contract with Middlesbrough to the end of next season.
Ayling initially joined Boro on loan from Leeds United in January 2024 before signing permanently that summer and has gone on to play 85 games for them, scoring once.
The 34-year-old has featured in all but three of Boro's Championship games this season, as they sit in second place with seven matches left.
A right-back for most of his career with Yeovil, Bristol City and Leeds, Ayling has spent most of this campaign operating in central defence or in a back three, while he has also captained the side on occasions.
"I'm absolutely delighted," he told the club's website, external.
"Last season wasn't great for me, and I wanted to show people I could still play at this level, and I've enjoyed this season."
