Jersey Bulls boss Elliot Powell says "quality in key moments" was the difference for his side as they beat Sheppey United 2-1 in Isthmian League South East.

Powell was not happy with the way his side played for long periods at Springfield, but the islanders ground out another result thanks to two goals from Lorne Bickley.

The win keeps Bulls - who have lost just one of their past seven games - in sixth position and three points off the play-off places.

Bickley struck in the 31st minute to put Bulls ahead at half-time, only for Stanley Oldfield to equalise for Sheppey moments after the restart.

But the Bulls striker was on hand to get the winner midway through the second half.

"It wasn't our best performance by any means, probably one of our worst to be fair, but we've come out on the right side of it which is really pleasing," Powell told BBC Radio Jersey.

"We've come out on the right side by a couple of factors - character, concentration and then a little bit of quality at key moments.

"Miguel Carvalho's cross for the first, Rai dos Santos' run previous to the ball in for Miguel and then Lorne's timing of his run - and then the second goal, Toby Ritzema's run, cross and again Lorne's timing of the run and that's something we've worked on in training.

"So we're really happy with how Lorne's arrived in the box to take those two goals and ultimately get us three points."
