Southampton striker Damion Downs has joined German Bundesliga side Hamburg on loan until the end of the season.
Saints signed the 21-year-old from FC Koln in a deal worth £7m in the summer.
But Downs has only started three games in all competitions and made 11 substitute appearances since arriving at St Mary's.
The United States international has failed to score a goal and registered just one assist in six months at the Championship club.
His last appearance for Southampton was as a 78th-minute substitute in the 3-0 win over Leicester City on 25 November.
Hamburg are 13th in Bundesliga and four points clear of the relegation play-off place.
"The club wishes Damion all the best for the remainder of the season," Southampton said in a brief statement on the club website., external
