When does the January transfer window open and close?

The winter transfer window will open on Thursday, 1 January 2026 for Premier League, English Football League and Scottish clubs.
It will be open for a month before closing at 19:00 GMT on Monday, 2 February.
The deadline is scheduled for February as January 31 falls on a weekend.
Clubs in all leagues will still be able to sign free agents after the February deadline.
Premier League clubs spent a record £3.087bn in the 2025 summer transfer window, with Liverpool's £125m capture of Alexander Isak a British transfer record.
English top-flight clubs spent more on transfers than the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A clubs combined.
