Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber has confirmed that Sturm Graz midfielder Tomi Horvat is "on their radar".

Reports have linked the Robins to the Slovenian international, who is currently playing for the Austrian Bundesliga side.

Struber has already signed Sam Morsy and George Earthy, the latter on loan, this month while the club have also been linked to Aston Villa defender Finley Munroe and Middlesbrough forward Delano Burgzorg.

"Tomi Horvat is a really interesting player with a profile what would fit in our world of football in a really good way, nothing is done yet but it is a player who we have really close on our radar," Struber told BBC Radio Bristol.

The 26-year-old joined Sturm Graz in 2022 and has been part of the side which has won the league title the past two seasons - ending 10 years of Red Bull Salzburg's dominance - and also twice won the Austrian Cup twice.

He won the first of his 12 international caps in 2022 and has featured for Slovenia in their four most recent World Cup qualifiers.

Struber, who is Austrian and had a spell as manager of Salzburg before moving to Ashton Gate, said signing Horvat was a "long-term project".

"There is a really interesting player on a really high level," Struber added.

"He showed in some games in the Champions League, Europa League and was always a player in Sturm Gartz on a really high level.

"Very consistent in his performances, a national player from Slovenia, so in all directions he would check my personal box."

Struber reiterated that the club remain "close" to bringing in a new striker and said they "hope" to complete in the coming days.

"This is not only in our hands, but we work really hard and hope we can finish this quickly," he said.
