Mansfield Town have signed goalkeeper Harry Lewis from Carlisle United on an 18-month deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old joins the Stags as back-up to first-choice keeper Liam Roberts.

Former Southampton man Lewis spent two years with Carlisle, making 41 appearances across all competition for the Cumbrians after joining them from Bradford City.

Just two of those appearances came this season, with none coming in the National League.

Carlisle boss Mark Hughes praised him for showing "the highest standards of professionalism" after losing his place to Gabriel Breeze last season.

"His attitude, work ethic, and commitment have been exemplary, and his support for Gabe and the wider coaching group has been greatly appreciated," Hughes told the club website., external

With young goalkeepers Owen Mason and Anthony Nunez out on loan at non-league clubs, Stags boss Nigel Clough said he was determined to bring in an experienced shot-stopper.

"Harry fitted the bill for us," Clough told the Stags website., external
