Manchester City need Santa to deliver a big sack of cotton wool, so that the players can firmly be wrapped in it over Christmas.

City have a rare, full week off between beating West Ham on 20 December and facing Nottingham Forest on the 27th.

But the absentee list for Pep Guardiola is lengthening, so he needs to try to make sure there is no repeat of last season's injury crisis which so badly derailed their campaign.

Rodri, John Stones, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb are all on the treatment table, while Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri are at the Africa Cup of Nations.

City are currently on a run of winning seven straight games in all competitions and are looking ominous in their quest to win back the Premier League title.

Erling Haaland's incredible season has seen him score 38 goals for club and country, so a big bag of bubble wrap will be useful as added protection for the Norway striker.

The season cranks up for City at the turn of the year, playing nine matches in January in four different competitions.

They durability of their squad will be tested to the limits during this run.
