Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway has criticised FA officials after captain Ollie Clarke was suspended 24 hours before Saturday's League Two meeting with Barrow.

The Robins were fined £1,000 for fielding Clarke in an EFL Trophy tie at Luton, believing a seven-game ban he was subject to at the time did not apply to that competition.

Holloway was further incensed to be told on Friday that his skipper had been given a one-match suspension and would not be allowed to play against Barrow.

"We had a terrible blow when I was told at five o'clock that my captain couldn't play after we prepared with him in the team," he told BBC Radio Wiltshire.

"I've rung the League Managers Association to complain - I think it's unprofessional.

"They want to fine me? Good! They want to ban me? Good! Do it. Have a look at yourselves every single one of you. It's absolutely disgusting.

"And whether I get another game or not I don't really care any more."

On Monday, Swindon could face further sanctions from the EFL over the Clarke error and for using Aaron Drinan as a substitute when his name had not been on the teamsheet.

The club says that officials should have clarified selections before kick-off, but they could yet be thrown out of the EFL Trophy.

"It's a siege mentality in my head now, absolutely totally and utterly," Holloway added. "And if Luton go through, good luck to you. We beat you fair and square."
