Everton centre-back Kenzie Weir has received a maiden call to the Scotland squad for next week's World Cup qualifying double header against Belgium.

The 22-year-old daughter of former Hearts, Rangers and Scotland defender David Weir has been on loan at Ipswich Town since January and she takes the place of Rangers' Leah Eddie.

Earlier this week, Rangers midfielder Jodi McLeary replaced Celtic counterpart Maria McAneny.

The 21-year-old McAneny, who has two caps, missed Celtic's 3-0 derby defeat by Rangers in the Scottish Women's Premier League on Monday.

McLeary, who started that game in an unfamiliar right-back role as Rangers moved up to second in the table, has played for Scotland at youth level, but the 20-year-old has yet to be capped by the senior side.

Like McLeary, Weir is promoted from the Under-23 squad named for two games in Spain this month and has not represented Scotland since her 11th cap at Under-19 level in February 2023.

Melissa Andreatta's side host the Belgians at Easter Road Stadium in Edinburgh on Tuesday, 14 April, with the return fixture at Den Dreef Stadium in Leuven the following Saturday.

The teams have both won their opening two fixtures, with Scotland top of Europe's Group B4 on goal difference after easing aside Luxembourg as Belgium also won comfortably against Israel.
