MK Dons have cancelled the contract of defender Nathan Thompson by mutual agreement.

The 35-year-old moved to Stadium MK from Stevenage a year ago but suffered a serious knee injury in only his second game.

He returned to the side at the start of the current campaign but has not played since a 4-0 home defeat by Swindon Town in the EFL Trophy on 11 November.

"Nathan is extremely well thought of at Stadium MK, but it was agreed that the move was best for all parties," said a club statement.

"In his time in Milton Keynes, Nathan has conducted himself in an impeccable manner, acting as a role model for younger players and leading by example as a senior professional."

Thompson began his career at Swindon and also played for Portsmouth and Peterborough United before joining Stevenage in 2023.
