Lincoln City have triggered a contract extension to keep forward James Collins at the club until the end of next season.

The 35-year-old has scored 16 goals in 45 games in all competitions since joining the Imps from Derby County in January 2025.

Collins is currently recovering from a serious knee injury suffered in December, which is expected to keep him out for the rest of the campaign.

"I couldn't be more thankful for the way everyone at the club, the owners and coaching staff have shown faith in me by extending my contract," he told the club's website., external

"I particularly want to thank the medical department for their unbelievable support and care since my injury. They have all gone above and beyond to help me."

Collins has represented the likes of Shrewsbury, Swindon, Luton, Crawley and Derby in a career spanning more than 15 years.

Lincoln announced similar contract extensions for Tendayi Darikwa, Reeco Hackett and Conor McGrandles on Monday.

The Imps sit second in League One, four points behind leaders Cardiff City. They visit Luton Town on Saturday.
