Northern Ireland international Caragh Hamilton has joined Sunderland on loan from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.

The versatile 29-year-old wide player has made 13 appearances for fellow WSL2 side Forest this season.

Hamilton had two stints with Women's Premiership side Glentoran in Northern Ireland after a spell in Iceland, and made the move to Lewis in England in 2023.

Hamilton has won 53 Northern Ireland caps and scored seven international goals.

She made history in February 2012 by becoming the youngest player to make a senior Northern Ireland appearance, aged just 15 years and 121 days.

As well as playing on the wing, where she has spent the majority of her career, Hamilton can also feature at right back.

"Caragh joins us with a wealth of championship and international experience," Sunderland head coach Mel Reay said.

"Adding strength and depth to our back line, we are pleased she will be finishing the season with us on Wearside."

Sunderland are eighth in the WSL2 table, four points behind Nottingham Forest.
