Millwall will travel to Premier League side Burnley aiming to reach the FA Cup fourth round but head coach Alex Neil says the competition will not take precedence over the Lions' league campaign.

Neil's side are fifth in the Championship after 26 matches, just three points off the automatic promotion spots, and hope to secure a return to the top flight for the first time since 1990.

They face a Burnley team on Saturday (15:00 GMT) 19th in the Premier League and without a win in all competitions since October.

"Winning games is never a bad thing. We want to make sure we try and progress in the cup, so we're certainly not taking it lightly," Neil told BBC Radio London.

"However, what I'm doing is I'm making sure that it's not going to take precedence over our league campaign and making sure that we don't self-inflict or destabilise ourselves in terms of going forward.

"We know it's going to be a tough game. I know Scott's [Scott Parker] a very good coach. I know they've got some good players, we're going to have to be good if we want to try and get a result."

Burnley go into the game after earning a 2-2 draw with Manchester United in Darren Fletcher's first match in charge of the Red Devils, following Ruben Amorim's sacking.

Millwall are unbeaten in four games and beat Swansea City via a stoppage-time winner from Caleb Taylor last time out.

Neil said there "might be one or two" players returning from injury to make the trip to Turf Moor.

"We've still got another couple, hopefully they'll be back for Watford, but slowly but surely we're getting back to having some of our players back," he added.
