Burton Albion have announced a £7m increase in losses for the 2024-25 season.

The League One club's deficit has jumped from £1.3m for the 2023-24 campaign to £8.3m, with wages increasing by 53% in the same period.

Burton were taken over by the Nordic Football Group in June 2024 when previous long-serving chairman Ben Robinson sold his majority stake in the Brewers to the Swedish-based investors.

The group announced in October it would cover the losses through a shareholder loan which would be later be waived but that it was seeking new investors.

"I can confirm the submission of our accounts for the 2024-25 season, which includes the known loss we expected to see," interim chairman Wouter Gudde told the club website., external

"As we referred to in our October statement, we have now put in place a strategy to reduce that loss by a significant percentage year-on-year. For the 2025-26 season, I would expect to see that drop between 30-40%."

Burton are currently 19th in League One, two points clear of the relegation zone after a 1-0 home win over fellow-strugglers Rotherham on Tuesday night.
