Swindon Town have signed Aston Villa midfielder Aidan Borland on loan and agreed a new contract with Gavin Kilkenny.

Borland, 18, has made six EFL Trophy appearances for Villa's under-21 side and will stay at the County Ground for the rest of the season.

He has represented Scotland at various age-group levels and also appeared in last season's FA Youth Cup final when Villa beat Manchester City 3-1.

Kilkenny, meanwhile, will remain with Swindon Town until 2028, having signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract.

The Irishman arrived from Bournemouth in 2024, has established himself in the Robins' midfield with 28 appearances this season.

Swindon said the new deal represented "a significant piece of long-term planning," as Kilkenny is a "valued member of the dressing room."

Ian Holloway's team are currently second in League Two, two points behind leaders Bromley.
