Preston North End boss Paul Heckingbottom has been given a three-game touchline ban by the FA after being found guilty of misconduct.

The incident came during a pre-match briefing before their Championship fixture against Watford in November and alleged that, external he "acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official".

The Lilywhites were held to a draw at Vicarage Road after Mamadou Doumbia cancelled out Daniel Jebbison's opener.

Having admitted the charge, an independent regulatory commission also issued Heckingbottom with a £10,000 in addition to the touchline ban.

It is Heckingbottom's third touchline ban of the year having previously been sanctioned with two-match suspensions in February (also for an incident at Watford) and in May.

He will now be absent from the touchline for Saturday's trip to Oxford United, the visit of Norwich City on 20 December and their away fixture at Stoke City on Boxing Day.
