Simon Weaver says his children are his motivation as he tries to keep Harrogate Town in the EFL.
Harrogate are bottom of League Two ahead of Saturday's relegation shoot-out against Newport County at Rodney Parade, but Weaver said his family always came first.
"I'm trying to do right for the people I love, first and foremost, at home," Weaver told BBC Radio York.
"I've got two kids on Easter holidays. We played a few games at home and just had a little bit of a barbecue ourselves, just to try and show them I'm there for them first. That's my number one priority. Don't put all my problems on them. I think that in turn helps me.
"It's about trying to be as rounded as possible because it's a sticky situation. I'd much rather be higher up the table and not dealing with this, so you can switch off more freely. But I owe it to them to come to work fresh and do a job for them."
Newport are a point and two places higher than Harrogate and Weaver says it is "ammunition" for his side to know they can jump above County if they win.
Harrogate have won at relegation rivals Barrow and Tranmere Rovers in recent weeks to keep them close to the sides above them.
"We've been good away from home in recent weeks, we score goals, we've been an attacking threat and we've been resolute at the back," the 48-year-old said.
"Knowing we could overtake them provides further ammunition and motivation for the cause."
