Barrow bring in Stoke defender Anderson on loan

Barrow have signed Stoke City defender Freddie Anderson on loan for the rest of the season.

Anderson, 19, moves to the League Two outfit having spent last year on loan with League of Ireland side Cork City and after signing a new two-and-a-half-year contract with his parent club, external earlier this week.

The son of former England defender Viv, Anderson has played once for the Stoke first team, scoring in a Carabao Cup win at Carlisle United aged just 17 in August 2024.

The United States Under-20 international defender is the first player to join Barrow since Paul Gallagher was appointed as head coach last week.

Gallagher told Barrow's club website:, external "Freddie's someone I've monitored closely since I left Stoke and I am thrilled we've been able to get the deal done."
